Description

The Galaxy Note 8 is primed to take the smartphone world by storm. It’s a stunning handset, both to gawk at and to clutch in your palms. Its bezel-less display is on par with the dazzling beauty of the Galaxy S8, and with bang-up-to-date internals, new and improved S Pen features and fancy dual rear cameras, the Note 8 is the crème de la crème of smartphone flagships. Samsung is using these lenses in interesting ways. Dual Capture snaps a photo with both lenses, so that even if you commit to a zoomed-in shot, you'll have the wide-angle option sitting in your camera roll as well. Like the predecessor, it supports video recording with 2160p (4K) at 30 fps (limited to 10 minutes each video [10]), 1080p (Full HD) at up to 60 frames per second and 720p (HD) slow motion at up to 240 frames per second. [11] Storage [ edit ] The handset features a fingerprint scanner next to the rear camera, [5] and retains facial recognition and iris recognition similar to the S8. [12] Audio [ edit ] The Note 8 is IP68 water-resistant, so it can survive up to 1.5m (5ft) underwater for 30 minutes, and it uses the reversible USB-C standard. Both are new perks for most Note fans. There’s also no camera bump, and that gaudy Samsung logo has been moved to the rear, no longer staring you in the face. Unfortunately, the fingerprint sensor has moved there, too. The fingerprint sensor has marginally improved

Difference between Samsung Android 8.0 Oreo device and 7.0 Nougat device | Samsung Support Philippines". Samsung ph . Retrieved 12 April 2018. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is obviously the bigger, more powerful option that comes with an S Pen Stylus. The biggest difference between the two phones is that there's an extra lens on its camera. The camera is an area where these two phones are almost beyond comparison. The S8 relies totally on its single 12MP lens to do all of the heavy lifting, but the Note 8 utilizes two 12MP lenses to good use. The Note 8 improves on the core device specifications and hallmark S Pen features of earlier devices. While retaining the same overall look and approximate size of the Galaxy S8+, it features an upgraded processor and, for the first time in Samsung's smartphone history, a dual-camera system on the rear of the device; one functions as a wide-angle lens and the other as a telephoto lens, with both featuring 12 MP resolution and optical image stabilization. The S Pen has increased pressure sensitivity levels and its software has been upgraded to offer improved note taking capabilities on the always-on display, as well as animated GIF and improved translation features. Why buy this instead of the 6.2-inch Galaxy S9 Plus? The extra tenth of an inch of screen is insignificant and doesn’t matter, but Note fans adore the S Pen stylus functionality and its more square shape. Over the S8 Plus, the Note 8 also benefits power users with 6GB or RAM and a superior dual-lens camera, both features passed on to the S9 Plus. What’s improved – slightly? The offset fingerprint sensor and center-aligned camera are a few milimeters further away from each other. Samsung wisely moved the flash and heart rate monitor in between the sensor (which requires your fingerprints) and the camera (which always gets fingerprint smudges all over it). That built-in heart rate monitor you forget still existed on Samsung phones now serves a purpose again.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is a relatively tiny phone with a surprisingly large 5.8-inch Super AMOLED. Its 1440 x 2960 resolution contains a pixel density of 570 pixels per inch and uses a super-widescreen 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Comparing the weight of the two has the Note 8 obviously weighing more at 195 grams versus the S8's 155 grams. However, despite its heftier size the new Samsung device doesn't feel overly weighty. And, because this is an AMOLED panel, contrast levels are unbeatable, at a perfect Infinity:1, and maximum brightness reaches a respectable 330cd/m2. Switch on adaptive brightness, and that figure creeps up to a blinding 981cd/m2. No more squinting at your Facebook feed in direct sunlight. McGarry, Caitlin (14 September 2017). "Samsung Launches the new Galaxy Note 8 with an Infinity Display and Dual Rear Cameras". XDA Developers . The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Charges at Mostly 15W with the Samsung 25W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger". GTrusted. 8 December 2017. As one might expect for two phones of dramatically different sizes, battery size differs between them. The S8 contains a 3,000mAh cell – a fairly generous amount for its small size. However, the Note 8 is honestly not much bigger at just 3,300mAh. Samsung keeps topping itself, launching phones with the world’s best display every six months. Its maximum brightness, 3K resolution with Mobile HDR Premium, and wider color gamut are hard for anyone else to compete with. It's Always-On Display continues to be an appealing feature in a smartphone. Lit up, the all-screen Note 8 feels like we’re carrying around a piece of light when we’re out and about. It's much better than the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL display, Google's biggest weakness.

If you were hoping that Samsung relocated the rear-facing fingerprint sensor to, say, the front of the Note 8 or at least a spot that was easier to access, you'll be disappointed to know that it's snug against the camera – just like the S8.

One is a wide-angle lens with an aperture value of f/1.7, which should give the Note 8 the upper hand in low-light shooting. Its second lens is the telephoto lens that offers greater zooming capability. Working in tandem, the Note 8 is capable of more things on both the software and hardware side of things than the S8 is. First off, optical image stabilization is offered for both lenses, meaning your images and videos won't suffer from too much blur at all.

The Note 8 is powered by an Exynos 8895 [7] or Snapdragon 835 processor, depending on geographic region, [5] [8] along with 6GB of RAM. [5] [8] Battery [ edit ] Stretching your fingers is well worth if you can physically manage it. Its expansive 6.3-inch display – now without a physical home button – has an unheard-of 83% screen-to-body ratio. The iPhones have a 67% screen-to-body ratio for comparison. That's a lot less screen for such big phones, at least until iPhone 8 arrives to change everything. Case in point: after putting the Note 8 to the test with our X-Rite colour calibrator, we found it covers 98.2% of the sRGB colour gamut space. With an average delta E of 1.49 (anything less than 1.5 is preferred), the Note 8 produces wholly accurate colours across the board, even if images are a tad overexposed. You also won’t get the best sound from the Note 8. It's a multimedia powerhouse visually, but its bottom-firing speaker still had us cupping the bottom of the phone to get better audio. Samsung has yet to deliver dual front-facing speakers like the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, or customizable Hi-Fi audio like the LG V30. Maybe next year.
