About this deal

Until the Mavic 3 series, having a camera with a Four Thirds CMOS sensor placed on a drone meant purchasing a more expensive, and significantly bulkier, DJI Inspire and separately acquiring a Zenmuse X5 camera to mount on the drone's gimbal. The camera on the Mavic 3 also includes Hasselblad's HCNS technology which offers up enhanced color accuracy. Mavic 3 Pro is C2 certified, and Mavic 3 Classic is C1 certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

That was the beginning. And, though the Mavic name may be fading from DJI’s product line, the product line most of us will always identify as “Mavic” is not. A fast reviewThe main difference between the Standard and Cine versions of the Mavic 3 is that the Standard version provides 8GB of internal storage, while the Cine features an impressive 1TB SSD with support for Apple ProRes 422 HQ video recording. Features and flight The Mavic 3 is now the fully-featured drone it should have been at launch. And while the features available when it first arrived were more than enough for professionals and experienced drone pilots who typically use manual controls, the arrival of the missing features also makes the Mavic 3 much more beginner-friendly. The Mavic 3 is now the best prosumer drone you can buy, and one that could provide many years of service, thanks to the advanced features and fantastic image quality it offers. DJI Mavic 3 release date and price Outside the cover, the drone looks much more like the Air 2S; the legs are thinner and the vision sensors placed diagonally on the corners rather than glaring forward like those on the Mavic 2. The top and rear side vents offer a slightly aggressive posture though the spindly legs offset that.

The DJI Mavic 3 Pro rumors were pretty much spot-on –this is DJI's first consumer drone with three cameras, making it an aerial companion with few peers when it comes to shooting versatility. Compared with Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Classic, we've significantly upgraded the imaging performance of the Mavic 3 Pro Series: APAS 4.0 is not available while recording 4K/48fps, 4K/50fps, 4K/60fps, 2.7K/48fps, 2.7K/50fps, 2.7K/60fps and 1080p/120fps video. But this could just be wishful thinking. Our source in China doesn’t think this is in the cards, so tough to say: Text from our source… With the Mavic 3 series, you can point the camera toward the sun and it will create a sunburst instead of blowing out and entire area. The extra hovering time available combined with the number of options available does encourage hovering with eyes away from the aircraft which isn’t an approach recommended by many aviation authorities. The Mavic 3 series is clearly aimed at professional drone pilots, given its pricing. This is why, in my opinion, DJI should have continued using the GO 4 app. Maybe Hasselblad's HNCS technology is so accurate that there isn't a need to delve into the different types of White Balance settings including Sunny, Cloudy, and Incandescent. But what if I decided I wanted to shoot in Shutter or Aperture Priority mode? Why does DJI's Phantom 4, which was released over five years ago warrant these sophisticated photography settings compared to a drone that costs substantially more? The Mavic line has been a powerhouse for DJI. Every release has been popular, and every release brings with it substantial improvements. We would expect nothing less for the Mavic Pro 3.

Measured with Mavic 3 Pro flying at a constant speed of 32.4 kph in a windless environment at sea level until the battery level reached 0%. Data is for reference only. Please pay attention to RTH reminders in the DJI Fly app during your flight. Actual available storage space may be reduced due to system configuration. For more details, see the Mavic 3 specs. Tested with a production model DJI Mavic 3 in a closed environment in favorable conditions and an unobstructed wireless signal. Actual results may vary depending on environment, usage, and firmware version. Actual available storage space may be reduced due to system configuration. Please refer to the specifications of the Mavic 3 Pro for details. Like the DJI Air 2S, the Mavic 3 also features APAS 5.0 (Advanced Pilot Assistance System). Although I didn’t test this feature, it is said to be DJI’s most advanced autonomous mode yet and capable of guiding the aircraft through dense foliage without crashing.DJI worked with Swedish camera maker Hasselblad to create a custom L2D-20c camera for the Mavic 3 series. Placed on the bottom, the main camera features a 20MP, Four Thirds CMOS sensor that has a 24mm (equiv.) lens with 84º FOV and variable F2.8-11 aperture. It can shoot still images in 12-bit Raw format. The entire dual-camera system is placed on a 3-axis mechanical gimbal. Ultimately, this will leave the Mavic 3 series with two options – the new Pro version, and the more affordable, single-camera DJI Mavic 3 Classic. DJI Mavic 3 Pro specs and features Our source didn’t have any info here, but it would seem likely DJI would continue with a Hasselblad camera on the new drone. It’s a premium offering, and this will be a premium prosumer drone.

The Mavic 3 Cine is powered by a new remote called the DJI RC Pro. It basically looks and behaves like an updated version of DJI's Smart Controller. The RC Pro features a 1,000-nit, 5.5" high bright screen and a range of 15km (9.3 miles) thanks to O3+ (OcuSync 3) transmission. DJI says it takes 90 minutes to charge fully and can operate the drone up to 3 hours. So let’s recap. The drone will hopefully be released by late September. We anticipate it will include: From everything we’ve heard, it’s coming this year. A source in China close to DJI has current plans are for a Q3 release – meaning sometime between July and the end of September. But he cautioned it could just as easily be pushed to Q4.
