Both the DT 990 PRO 80 Ohms and 250 Ohms have the same durable build qualityas they are almost entirely made from high-grade and durable plastic, except for their steel metal headband that suspends the ear cups, providing a secure fit. The ear cups are adjustable, replaceable, and consist of soft memory foam padding wrapped in velour for optimum comfort when playing games or listening to music for extended periods. In addition, they come with a straight tangle-free cord attached to one side for efficient frequent adjustment. Performance/sound quality: If I do really need a headphone amp, any recommendations? (I use the headphones for mixing, I'm pairing it with Sonarworks SoundID)

DT 990 PRO: Open studio monitoring headphones | beyerdynamic

Often, investing in excellent sounding headphones means that you may end up spending a little more than you had bargained. But every once in a while, you may find something that does not cost a lot and still delivers impressive audio. The Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO is one of those headsets. Despite not having the trendiest appearance, it provides a unique and powerful signature sound that is sure to impress you every time you place them on your head. In this Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO 80 Ohms vs. 250 Ohms comparison, we tell you what you need to know about each of them and the different features which make both an attractive option. The DT 990 PRO is an open dynamic headphone of exceptional quality suitable for the most demanding professional and audiophile applications. Alright. I did further testing. I was using spotify and I now tested with some flac files instead. Left driver clips as well but not as bad as the right side. Maybe because there are a lot more happening in the right channel in the song. SoundID software has a switch to flip L/R channels and the bad clipping does flip left and right. Thanks to the Tesla technologydeveloped in Heilbronn, the DT 1990 PRO offers even finer resolution with precise and powerful bass. The PRO flagship also sets new standards in terms of wearing comfort and workmanship.i am all ears and eager to learn. im still excited to hear what these cans can really do. i know they should be really amazing but i just need some guidance Despite having the same frequency response range of 5Hz-35 kHz, these headphones have a great sound delivery with an excellent sense of imaging, depth, and soundstage. As a result, they are perfect for any gaming session and studio mixing, monitoring, and mastering. However, the DT 990 PRO 80 Ohms isideal for devices with low amps, like mobile phones, laptops, portable music players, and other portable devices. It took all of a few seconds to want to rip the DT 990 off my head as I always start with female vocals and this headphone shred the vocals to pieces. And proceeded to drill into your head with those shards! This thing is so bright that it brought high frequencies resonances that I did not even think were in the music! This stood out even more because there is little sub-bass energy. The peaking around 150 Hz provides a bit of help there but also can sound a bit boomy on some content. beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro 250 Ohm – Thomann UK

The very early (high impedance ones) even had zener diodes in anti-series to prevent maximum excursions. Notice how 250 ohm is the minimum impedance. Close to tuning frequency of the headphone, it shoots up to 350 ohm so your headphone amp needs to also have a very low output impedance as to not impact the frequency response of this headphone. Heaven knows you don't want to mess up the response of this headphone any more than it already is! Note: The measurements you are about to see are preformed using standardized GRAS 45CA headphone measurement fixture. Headphone measurements require more interpretation than speaker tests and have more of a requirement for subjective testing as a result. In addition, comparison of measurements between different people performing it using different configurations requires fair bit of skill. So don't look for matching results. Focus on high level picture. Listening tests are performed using RME ADI-2 DAC and its headphone output. I am not going to recommend the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro. It is just too broken. Even though EQ helped a lot, it is still an inefficient headphone with high distortion. If you have one, use my EQ and comment on how you like it. Otherwise it is a pass with or without EQ. Let's hope we can find a headphone as comfortable as this but with much better engineering. The DT 990 PRO with an impedance of 80 Ohms and sensitivity of 96dB require less power to deliver high audio levels, meaning they work well with equipment with low amplification, including mobile phones, portable music players, and other portable devices. When playing Overwatch, the sound was appropriately bombastic at moderate volume but sounded slightly shrill with high volume levels. The cups are round and large making for easy fit not only around your ears but also the measurement gear. I have never had a headphone so easy to mount on my fixture to measure. I can find a lot about the beyerdynamic dt990 250 ohm on the internet and from that I concluded that they are very solid headphones for the price. you do need an amp for that, of course. The pads felt hard at first but after just a couple of hours of use, they became more comfortable. Combined with light weight of the unit, they are nice to wear. The DT 990 Pro comes with soft velour earpads, as well an adjustable padded spring steel headband for maximum comfort making them ideal for long sessions. Since it's in one side only the headphone is likely the problem but I'd also guess the headphones aren't very sensitive since they are 250 Ohms so it wouldn't surprise me if you are clipping the Behringer.
