It’s important to note that the main ingredient of this formula is actually Salix Alba Bark Water, which supposedly comprises 88% of the product. This ingredient is derived from the white willow tree, and contains salicin - a substance that can turn into salicylic acid under the right conditions, but isn’t exactly the same thing. Willow bark water is a popular ingredient for acne-related products because it helps to soothe inflamed skin, and not because it can act as a BHA substitute. Someone said, “If your pores are large it will stay large, if it is small it will stay small, it is what it is” in one of the many beauty forums (I forgot which one) I joined. Which I find hard to believe because based on my research, it is true we cannot get rid of large pores like how a spot treatment vanishes an acne. Pore products work only to minimize it, NOT to completely get rid of our pores because it’s really a part of our skin. As another commenter in the same thread pointed out, “I certainly did not have large hell pores when I was born” she claimed that she only noticed it when she started getting acne. I swear, it wasn’t me on that thread, although she does sound a lot like me and the fact I also started noticing my pores are getting larger too after I cleared up my acne. So yeah, I’m one of those people who believe we can minimize our large pores with proper care. And this is where I segue this latest CosRx Two In One Poreless Power Liquid review. The scent is very light, and kind of sweet chemical? It’s nothing like the unpleasant scent of BPL, which I make do with because the product works so well for me. Glass skin? Well, sort of. This doesn’t exactly produce the signature dewiness associated with the glass skin look but it does create a very smooth appearance which could account for everyone and their mom saying this will give you glass-like skin! I do not have larger pores nor do I have clogged pores and I’m not prone to blemishes but of course, I had to try this for myself and see what sort of effects it would have on my drier skin because they had me at glass-like skin. This is a low calorie BHA in my opinion. So, perhaps if you have more sensitive skin or you’ve never tried a BHA before this could be a potentially nice option for your skin to get used to BHAs or to use a more gentle formula.

The challenge for any new skincare product is figuring out how to add it into an existing routine, and in my case, it’s bit harder because I need to take pH into consideration. Fortunately, my friend Becca tested the Poreless Liquid on a pH strip and found that it registers at 4.5 to 5 pH level. BHAs work best at a pH between 3 and 4 so this is a bit higher, but I treat this more as an acid toner anyway so it’s not an issue for me. Given the pH level, it seems best to apply this after the actual acids. Simplicity – using only key ingredients, avoiding any redundancies, will not only reduce the chance of skin irritation, but also provide the simple solution.There’s not change in my the overall tone or brightness of my skin but I did have one tiny brown spot on my left upper cheek bone that looks considerably lighter since I started using this.

So is the product a necessity? Ultimately for me, it isn’t a game changer, but it is a nice addition to my lineup and a product I will continue to use in conjunction with my other acids. A lot of people I speak to in the skincare community prefer weak, gentle acid products, and I feel like it would work really well for people with those preferences! It would also probably be a good starter product for those interested but a bit hesitant about acids. There’s definitely an overall improvement in the oil my skin produces. Their line focuses on oily, blemish prone skin or from time to time oily dehydrated skin. This isn’t to say you can’t find some amazing gems for drier skin in the CosRX Collection such as Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence. For all skin types , Normal skin , Combination skin , Dry skin , Oily skin , Mature skin , Sensitive skin , Blemished skin Essentially, it’s a liquid toner which claims to help cleanse pores, and “tighten” them.
