Once its set up, the app offers an overview of the Versa 3's main features. The entire process only takes about 10 minutes. On the right edge of the watch chassis is a tiny mic and a speaker which, in theory, should allow you to take calls. Like the more expensive Sense smartwatch, the Versa 3 can measure your SpO2 and skin temperature from your wrist. Varies with use and other factors; up to 12 hours with continuous GPS. On-wrist calls require more frequent charging. Daily Readiness requires a Fitbit Premium membership. Premium content recommendations are not available in all locales and may be in English only.

It's worth reiterating that many of the better Fitbit apps are paid, just as they are on Apple Watch or Android Wear OS devices, so you'll need to pony up if you want some of the expanded functionality they provide. There are also differences when it comes to music. Both watches allow you to control your Spotify playlist from your wrist (provided you have a Spotify Premium subscription), and the Versa 3 also supports streaming from Deezer. Based on this data, Fitbit provides a daily Sleep Score between 0-100. Most mornings my score landed in the 80s, although on one particularly restless night I landed in the 40s with hardly two hours of sleep under my belt (or covers.) Fitbit Versa 3 review: Smartwatch features There’s also a lot more fitness monitoring features on the Versa 3, making the on-device interface a lot busier than what was available on the Versa 2 at launch. There are ways to manage them all, but they do take time to get used to.

There’s “Relax” for a start, which guides your breathing for intervals of up to ten minutes. You can either watch the small purple circle fill and empty to pace your breathing or, if you want to close your eyes, just feel out for the vibrations which will tell you when it’s time to breathe in and out.

The Versa 3 also lags compared to my Apple Watch SE. I poked around online to see if other reviewers and users noticed how apps can be slow to open and displays slow to switch, and sure enough I wasn’t the only one who felt the Versa 3 could be more responsive. It’s not a huge dealbreaker, but if you’re accustomed to the speedy performance of your smartphone or other smartwatch, the Versa 3 might frustrate you. Fitbit Versa 3 review: Battery life A fully-charged Versa 3 has a battery life of 6+ days. Battery life and charge cycles vary with use and other factors; actual results will vary. Heart rate between the Fitbit and Garmin was actually pretty similar, though without a chest strap, it’s hard to say whether they were both bang-on accurate, or well off target. All I can say is that despite Jonathan Bray’s misgivings about the heart-rate monitor in the Fitbit Sense – the same tech in use here – it does perform at least as well as a wearable on the other wrist.Included information about Calm meditation sessions and snore and noise detection features being added.
