This one probably won’t make it out to the table very often honestly as I feel it’s rather dry when compared to a bunch of my other more heavily thematic games. You are able to advance through multiple ages, build on previous success, and attack when you have a strategic advantage militarily. This is not a war game; while military strategy is important, your aim is to leverage every resource at your disposal to develop your nation.

The player can do this by moving his army to another player's capital, after which the combat starts. First, as with most Eagle board games, it has high production value including over 200 figures that were well sculpted along with a very large, detailed board. Lastly, a leader can build a militaristic civilization that rises to prominence by conquering any empires that stand in its way. It really becomes stale after a few plays even though I know the terrain has to be that way to work with the utterly cool focus bar.Territories are thus different from game to game, and may contain anything from a special resource (Coal, Oil, Iron, Horses, Gems, Grapes/Wine, Spices, Rare Metals, None) to a terrain type (deserts, forests and mountains, which restrict the city size that may be built there) to an event (a plague wipes out the settler and often surrounding territories, a minor civilisation is found, free money is found or a free technology from the current era is found). After each of the players pick their capitals they can claim starting bonuses (ranging from additional resources to additional armies). Clash of Cultures balances the accessibility and elegance of A New Dawn with the more traditional gameplay of original Sid Meier’s Civilization.

In the Ancient Wold of the eastern Mediterranean and the Near East, each player controls a different nation as they seek to become the most powerful and advanced civilisation.

All government cards were given a boost to its power, so now it is much more desirable to change governments during a game.

The board game named Civilization (1980) by Francis Tresham inspired Sid Meier to create the original Sid Meier's Civilization (1991) computer game. Designed by James Kniffen, Sid Meier’s Civilization: A New Dawn is a turn-based strategy board game for two to four players. This has the potential to become confusing in large games, but I must admit that in playtesting so far it has never been an issue.

Rather than keeping track of the volumes of different resources a player controls (like wood, oil and gold in most PC games, for example), everything boils down to money in the boardgame for simplicity. This new tabletop game based on the groundbreaking video game series lets players become some of history’s greatest leaders as they try to advance their people through the ages, from ancient history to the modern era. How this worked in practice was that you had to have 2 Level 1 techs before you could build a Level 2 tech, 3 Level 1's and 2 Level 2's before you could build a Level 3, etc. Unfortunately, the world is still not all roses and cherries, as this system gets quite frustrating at the end of the game.
