Description

The lower midrange of the LetShuoer S12 shows a good sense of depth and body, which is an advantage for male voices. Male vocals such like Dave Gahan, Sting or Elton John do sound pretty intimate and emotional, while the level of clarity is decent. Instruments like violas, acoustic guitars or bassoons are reproduced in a pretty clean and detailed manner. soundstage + fit clearly goes to the s12, when @Rikudou_Goku mentioned the timeless had like a soundstage/imaging that was entirely in the front that’s what i was experiencing without realising it on the timeless. I don’t think the s12 has particularly good soundstage/imaging just not particularly awful (although obviously mixed reports) The provided cable is manufactured from silver-plated mono-crystalline copper, incorporating a 4 x 98-strand braid. The cable is pretty well-weaved, and is tangle-free with a chin cinch. Microphonics are unfortunately present. The LetShuoer S12 shows a pretty transparent and spacious midrange atmosphere thanks to its pronounced upper midrange tuning. The level of clarity, airiness and detail retrieval is on a pretty good level, which will satisfy most listeners.

You can listen for hours on without feeling listening fatigue even with poorly recorded or already bright material. The S12 Pros excel in its treble extension to my ears. The treble renders music with such openness but also very good resolution. What you get is shimmering, sparkle of minutia in your music, it just sounds great. As with the bass the treble stands out for the definition, naturalness, and decay of the notes.Inside of the S12 is LETSHOUER’s first-ever custom pair of 14.8mm planar drivers capable of pushing a respectable frequency range of 20Hz up to 20kHz.

CHI-FI competitors subsequently caught on – like a shark smelling blood – and had a FOMO (fear of missing out). They tried to muscle in on the planar pie, releasing the LETSHUOER S12, LETSHUOER Z12, Tin P1 Max, TRN Kirin, Muse HIFI Power, Moondrop Stellaris, CCA PLA13, KZ PR1 Balanced, and KZ PR1 HIFI. Upwards of the splitter, while it doesn’t get in the way, the wires have more memory retention than the rest of the cable. And for my tastes, the calling appearance of the cable doesn’t jive too well with the simplistic monotone housing of the S12. The overall build quality of the monitors is decent, and doesn’t show any imperfections such like burrs or gaps. The Letshuoer S12 Pro comes with a good bundle, reminiscent of its chi-fi origins. In the box, you get: Personally, I hooked up the new TC44Pro – review incoming – and the end result was dang impressive!

Beneath the first layer, a compact protective case is included bearing the company’s logo preserved in transit by thin plastic. The chosen cable, the 4.4mm balanced one, resides inside with the two sets of extra ear tips. Their product line-up includes the S12 and Z12 mentioned above and other luminaries such as the D13, EJ07, EJ07M, EJ09, Conductor, Soloist, Tape Pro, and Singer.

The monitor is available in two different colour options, which are Nebula Grey and Frosted Silver same like my review unit. The S12 is a slightly warm and very enjoyable set of earphones that balances its sound signature between sounding reference and musical while retaining good levels of transparency and technicalities. The LetShuoer S12 and the 7HZ Timeless do shows a pretty similar sound profile that is highly entertaining from the lows up to the highs. The elegant kidney shaped earpieces are made of aluminium alloy, painted in blue as opposed to the grey of the original S12. As with the original S12, there is a chrome accented on the square protrusion on the face of the IEMs, rather like a top quality car with chrome trims. I must say the combination looks quite elegant to me, with the contrasting blue colour. The earpieces are medium sized with an almost flat inner side to the earpieces and quite light, although they brim with good quality. The S12 PRO is resolving, crystal clear and transparent in the mid-range with a natural voicing that is combined with the already excellent bass performance to make for an immersive and realistic listening experience perfectly suitable for classical music and not only. The S12 Pro will be compared against some other mid-FI planars. Single DD, hybrids, and pure BA IEMs were excluded from the comparison as the different transducer types have their own pros and cons. Let’s start the PLANARy session to see which planar set is king! Vs. LETSHUOER S12 When it comes to the treble range, I can say that the LetShuoer S12 is the Planar Driver IEM with the more energetic signature. Both the upper and the lower treble regions of the S12 are shown with slightly higher sense of presence and extension. The 7HZ Timeless sounds in general a bit smoother and controlled compared to the LetShuoer S12 that’s sounds a bit more energy loaded and shouty. In terms of quality, bass texturing is pillowy and sometimes can sound undefined, but bass speed is lightning fast and can cope with complex bass movements. There’s just a hint of mid-bass bleed, but thankfully the bass does not encroach much into the midrange. Midrange

S12 Pro - PLANARy Session - Headphonesty Review: LETSHUOER S12 Pro - PLANARy Session - Headphonesty

What happens though is that the timbre is just a touch metallic and artificial while the S12 PRO is not that resolving and refined in the treble as in the mid range.

The accessories are befitting of a mid-FI pair of IEMs, and everything is entirely usable out-of-the-box. Ear tips The foam tips even come with their own case! Instruments from pianos to cymbals, from flutes to cellos are reproduced in a pretty detailed and dynamic manner, while the extension and authority is quite decent compared to previous In-Ear Monitor with Planar Magnetic Driver that I have listen before. Starting off the replay is amazingly interactive. Planar IEMs have a transient ability normally much better than their similarly priced (non-planar) competitors. The frequency response while forming a subtle V shape, both sectors of treble and bass were shown to be dominant. This would have you question the style of midrange abilities. The vocals, both male and female structures are slightly recessed into the mix, yet this tune, this S12 PRO ends up at the very top 1st place or 2nd place spot in my Planar list containing a total of 8 different planar contestants. Yep, I love this one, I really do. Why? Partially due to fit! Yep, I’m taking about fit-form-factor in the sound section……..you know why? Fit creates better sound! That’s a start. Next the bass.
