About this deal

Two short TV ads which as far as I can make out are identical. The same ridiculous low register voice over misrepresenting the film is featured on each. If there's a demonstrable audience for an extended Nightbreed then that could well influence a release as a pure commercial decision, but we need to figure out just how large that audience really is. A small but noisy group will not make a difference here - we need to see just how many people would actually put down their hard-earned money for this... But those that did see Nightbreedin 1990, those who ventured to see the film because they were already in love with horror’s newest wunderkind from his many novels and short stories as well as the still budding popularity of Hellraiser, saw a film ripe with potential and a dark, fevered creative energy. Literally thousands of horror films have been forgotten since 1990, confined to dusty clearance bins and deep cuts on Netflix, but Nightbreedendures andremains a beloved horror film, not because of what it was, but because of what could have been. In fact, Nightbreed’s fans remained so loyal that after almost 25 years, we finally got a director’s cut of the film, one much closer to Clive Barker’s vision than we ever imagined possible.

Revelations: "Wow, that's tough news! A year ago we had no idea whether or not the footage still even existed and it was only when we heard the company knew exactly where it was that we and Clive even got up hopes to be able to construct an extended cut of the movie. Sounds like the initial comments to Mark were unduly optimistic?" We have big (and extensive) news to report today regarding a film that we announced almost over a year ago in July. In collaboration with Morgan Creek Productions and Clive Barker's Seraphim, Inc., the long-awaited NIGHTBREED: THE DIRECTOR'S CUT is scheduled for a release of October 28th and will be available in two retail versions: A 5,000 Unit Limited-Edition 3-Disc Blu-ray set and a Special Edition DVD & Blu-ray Combo. All I want to say to everyone is thank you for everybody's support. We could not have done this without the thousands of fans of Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut that got behind the film. It is people like you that made this happen and the reason Morgan Creek has given Nightbreed a second life via Scream Factory." It's going to take us some time to do some restoration work and really do a lot of extra features on it but it's going to be our big title for next year, I think." Over time, Barker expressed disappointment with the final cut approved by the studio and always longed for the recovery of the reels so the film might be re-edited. In 2014, original film elements for the cut material were re-obtained and were edited into a director's cut, released through Scream Factory. [7] Plot [ edit ] Nightbreed (18)". In 2019, Trace Thurman of Bloody Disgusting wrote that the Nightbreed as depicted in the film "represent queerness, or any fill-in-the-blank ' Other' you can think of." [12] Noting that, beyond writer-director Clive Barker being "one of the most famous queer horror artists of our time [...] The narrative itself is filled to the brim with queerness and serves as an allegory for intolerance. Can anyone watch Nightbreed and not automatically associate the titular creatures with queer people? They've been outcast by society and are deemed as dangerous by the 'normal' people. The climax of the film culminates in an assault on the Nightbreed's home base of Midian as the 'normies' would rather kill all of them as opposed to understand them." [12] That same year, Leigh Monson of Birth. Movies. Death. wrote that the director's cut of the film "places on display the full scope of a narrative that is a broad and potent allegory for the persecution of the queer community." [13]
