Both box and the bottle are crafted so that they go with each other perfectly. Finally, we have a base which is refreshing again, but still quite musky. It’s dominated by labdanum, a musky herbaceous note, earthy patchouli, and agarwood. So it’s not an oud per se, but it’s still on the musky side, and still quite woody. I first sampled Montblanc Explorer when it was first released. As it immediately reminded me of Creed Aventus, one of our top 10 best men’s fragrances, I know that it would experience a lot of hype. Frustratingly, however, I didn’t get around to reviewing it until now!

At the head, you will likely experience some fruitiness. However, it’s bergamot as opposed to pineapple. I did get a whiff of that tropical fruitiness right at the beginning, but it faded as soon as it was noticed. Montblanc’s official statement: “From South Africa to Haiti, Italy, Germany or Indonesia; Montblanc EXPLORER invites explorers on a fantastic journey, giving them the opportunity to discover the rarest ingredients and manufacturing methods that combine craftsmanship with the latest technology.” Throughout these wonderful years as a fragrance enthusiast, I have always strived for more. Now, I’m thankfully able to share it with you. As for those in their twenties and thirties, it tends to be quite successful among both men and women. In fact, I would argue it is more popular among women than Creed Aventus is itself. Montblanc Explorer is an unconventional fragrance that reveals a fresh Italian Bergamot, contrasted by a rich Vetiver from Haiti and an exclusive Patchouli from Indonesia. The composition has been expertly crafted by three Givaudan perfumers and is presented in an elongated bottle with a leather-like protective sheath printed with the Saffiano motif. Top notes of Bergamot and Sage give way to heart notes of Vetiver, Leather, and Sandalwood, as the base notes of Patchouli, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Vanilla and Styrax come together for a truly unique scent experience. Warm and resinous without being too sweet, the Montblanc Explorer is perfect for every occasion.

I blame the pepper overdose for this. Yet, this shouldn’t bother you since the fragrance stays elegant and modern. It surely doesn’t push the game forward, yet it stays familiar with just above good enough quality to please everyone.In fact, I find the fragrance best suited for the office as the perfect situation for Explorer. Polo shirt, blue jeans, and nice shoes.
