About this deal

The beauty fanatic is known and loved for her brutally honest reviews and encyclopaedic knowledge of the skin. The information is redundant and you could make a drinking game out of each time she repeated herself. It felt nice for non-make-up days, though, but was too much underneath, so we only sprayed when necessary. Straight-talking advice from the Skincare Queen Caroline Hirons is the authority in skincare – and for the first time, she’s sharing her knowledge with the world.

My blog contains a lot of lifestyle content, with a lot of witty sarcasm, honesty and sass thrown in for good measure! She argues that we can ignore the “warm in hands before use” packaging advice too, as “no professional would put expensive product on their hands and spend time rubbing it into their palms before applying it. I welcomed this book to see if there were any tips and I’m overwhelmed with simple techniques and processes that no one (not even skin care professionals I’ve sought) have been able to tell me. We’ll certainly be keeping Hirons’s recommendations of Medik8’s hyr8 serum, Beauty Pie’s butter cleanser and the alpha beta peel pads from Dr Dennis Gross in our skincare arsenal, too. This book is truly a "no nonsense guide" to skin care, it's perfect for people who have zero knowledge to people to have a great grasp on their skin care routine. Hirons also provides you with helpful guidance on what ingredients you should be trying to use for your specific skin conditions. The combination of information, from basics to insider tips and tricks, product recommendations, advice and fun, all while easy to read and understand, makes this the perfect guide to seek advice from and reach for all the time. Would recommend this and will definitely refer back to this when considering any changes I want to make. My dermatologist exclaimed with absolute horror on using any kind of essential oil on acne prone skin.

Another nice thing about this book is that Hirons is not shy of recommending specific products for particular skin concerns.

Anyway, I have learned so much from this no-nonsense book and have made huge changes to my skincare regimes and products. This is a fantastic read for anyone, whether you are just starting out learning about how to take care of your own face, or you have been working in the biz for a long time. The only aspect that it didn’t address, which is a very big part IMO, is different products/routines for different skin types. This is very useful, but it also means that I kind of want to blow my budget on all the cleansers and serums she is recommending. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

The author covers skin types, skin problems, skincare routines, where we should be spending the bulk of our skincare budget, skincare myths, and so much more. To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. We had previously opted for fluffier cloths on other advice so this step depends on what your face can handle – sensitive skins may find flannels a bit too harsh. It also talks about which skin problems aren't solved by off-the-shelf products and need a dermatologist. I started reading skincare books more 15 years ago with Bobbi Brown’s Teenage Beauty and then I moved on very soon to Jo Fairley’s and Farah Stacey’s The Beauty Bible. It's so easy to read and Caroline explains everything simply and easily so you're not too overwhelmed! When I'm not performing on stage, which requires heavy makeup, I tend to favor a more natural look and give my skin a rest, but even if I'm only wearing tinted moisturizer, mascara, and lip gloss, my skin is still being nourished by the toners, serums, and other products I've used before I put on my "minimalist's palette" of makeup.

Vogue ‘Skincare Queen’ ITV This Morning ‘Hirons breaks down the world of skincare like no one else’ Red Magazine ‘The Hirons phenomenon’ Red . Her casual and humorous approach to common skincare topics makes this book a real reading pleasure - for beauty addicts as well as for skincare beginners. With over 100 million views of her blog and over 13 million views of her YouTube videos, she cuts out the jargon, tells you what you do and don't need, and is finally going to get the nation off face wipes for good! Caroline gets rid of the myths and fables and is down to earth about what is real and what is just hearsay. Don’t be tempted by a moisturiser with SPF in it; you’re being lured into a false sense of security. Also handy that Caroline is UK based so loads of good guidance on products you can pick up in the UK (can't comment on how available some of these steps internationally but I found it useful for sure). But otherwise, her skincare routine advice is pretty much the same – she even talks about using flannels for washing your face instead of muslin cloths.
