Although the comments are obviously recorded separately and pieced together here, the entire track is informative and insightful on the production, but the best parts are listening to Scorsese and Pileggi talking about growing up in the neighborhood and the mob lifestyle. Although the original design is not the sort to demo one's sound system, it nonetheless benefits tremendously from the jump into high-rez audio, blowing past legacy Dolby codecs away. There’s also Paul Sorvino’s quiet but intense portrayal of Pauly, who has very little dialogue, but his presence looms large over everything. Raised in a middle-class household by a Sicilian mother and Irish father, Hill has nothing but disdain for the working class (“For us, to live any other way was nuts.It truly is a modern American masterpiece, in which every line of dialogue deserves your attention, and almost every scene stands out as its own dramatic set piece. At the moment, we are unable to verify the size of the content, but the triple-layered UHD100 disc sits comfortably opposite a pair of Region Free Blu-ray discs atop one another. Many of the comments are mostly surface level thoughts, but it's great listening to these directors offer their take on a Scorsese classic. Following those pivotal moments, the movie suddenly switches tempo to one of frenetic paranoia as Henry Hill grows more out-of-control conducting “business” in a drug-induced state.

Having spent the better part of a year watching these 4K films and their Blu-ray counterparts, I’ve come to a few conclusions…first of all, there isn’t a night and day difference in the way these look. The overt shades of red during the burial and recovery of Billy Batts’ body are more extreme and, to my eyes, more effective. After listening to the first audio commentary, much of the information shared by everyone feels like a repeat. Yet as repulsive as those images of death are, they still aren’t as shocking as the execution which happensafterwards. This is most evident and appreciated during the many song selections, spreading evenly across the soundstage and creating an immersive wall of sound.Made Men features more vintage interviews with directors Frank Darabont, Antoine Fuqua, Richard Linklater, Jon Favreau, Joe Carnahan, and The Hughes Brothers as they discuss the film and their love for it.
