In his role as Executive Vice President, Worldwide Administration, Joe Henderson oversees the Company’s worldwide administration, facilities, information technology, risk management, and travel. Additionally, he oversees the management and maintenance of the Company’s vast archive and media library which covers over sixty years of TV and film productions. In "A Whiny Sister for Frances," the family plans a trip to their favorite amusement park, and Frances is extremely excited. However, the night before the trip her little sister Gloria comes down with the flu, and her parents spend all night taking care of her. In the morning everyone except Frances is too tired for the trip, and they tell Frances they'll have to stay home to take care of Gloria. Frances believes this is unfair and storms off. She tries to have fun with her parents at home, but they are too exhausted to join in and are constantly tending to Gloria. Frances resents Gloria for taking attention away from her, but her father asks her to put herself in Gloria's position. Frances realizes that although she's mad at Gloria, she appreciates her far more than she realized. When she hears Gloria calling for her, she decides that Gloria needs her and decides to make a "family day" of helping her parents take care of her. After a few days Gloria recovers and the family prepares to take their trip to the amusement park, but Frances has caught Gloria's flu, and they all stay home to take care of her. Emmet Otter’ achieved cult status because it was largely unavailable, so there wasn’t that shared cultural experience, It was a forgotten one-off holiday special, but now with the accessibility of media, a new audience has emerged, which is great because the story is timeless,” says Lintelman.LATEST UPDATE: A Disaster for Frances and A Goodbye for Frances have been FOUND by Vincent’s Vintage Videos on YouTube. A brief digital puppetry series based on the franchise, titled simply Frances, was released by the Jim Henson Company and HIT Entertainment from 2005-2006. Quite a few years ago – I think seven or eight years ago – we decided to develop Frances. Obviously it's based on the books and those books are truly brilliant. And the reason I think I was attracted to them for many years is that they so beautifully represent a very authentic kid. Frances is a really real child. She has temper-tantrums, she is stubborn, she is highly high-spirited, and highly imaginative. When you're reading those books, you see that it's such an honest portrayal of that kind of a kid. And we were attracted to that, and really wanted to bring that to television. And the other beauty of the books that we wanted to preserve is that her parents are extremely good parents. They are very patient with her, and they have this way of not crushing her spirit... And that is modeled very well in the books. And we really wanted to create a series that captured those two things. From 1969 to 2000, Henson was contracted to design and create Muppet characters for Sesame Street. With the exception of occasional appearances in the Muppets franchise, the characters were used exclusively for Sesame Street, but Henson legally owned these characters prior to their acquisition by Sesame Workshop. The only exception was Kermit the Frog, who was featured in other projects prior to Sesame Street. Sesame Workshop retains the rights to use any Sesame Street footage featuring the character. In "A Cupcake for Frances," Frances's mother holds a piano recital at the house for all her students, including Frances. She and Frances bake cupcakes for all the students while Albert comes over to practice his piece one last time. Frances becomes jealous of all the attention her mother is giving to Albert, and in revenge she eats the cupcake meant for him. However, her parents soon note the missing cupcake and she makes up lies about it being taken by a "cupcake monster." The guilt she feels for lying to her parents overwhelms her, and she ultimately decides to make up for it by giving Albert her cupcake. She admits the truth to her mother, who is proud of her for doing the right thing. Having exonerated herself, Frances feels much better. The second half-hour featured more serious and sometimes darker content, such as installments of The StoryTeller and Lighthouse Island. Occasionally, a light-hearted story or more Muppet antics (such as Miss Piggy's Hollywood) would close out the hour. Cheryl Henson – Board of Directors member, President of the Jim Henson Foundation.
