About this deal

Type 4 Port Cable and Di2 has two holes, one with no cable stop for a gear or brake outer, and one for 6mm hole for a Di2 cable. First, chain line. Shimano’s 12-speed systems are designed around a 44.5mm chain line and 148mm Q-factor. Wire lengths depend on the size of your frame. You’ll have to measure the frame sections the wires run through to determine the correct length. Can’t decide between two lengths? Then choose the longer one – you’ll be able to hide excess wire inside your frame. Squealing in wet conditions isn’t overly common, but contaminants (such as oil from a dirty road surface) will still cause some noise. Side by side with the latest Dura-Ace or Ultegra Di2 groupsets, shifting onto the big ring under load is noticeably slower here, but it’s still nigh-impossible to get wrong or to drop a chain (assuming, of course, the limits and indexing are set up correctly).

Like the sibling groupsets, the brains of the system live in the rear derailleur, so there’s no junction box in the mix either.Give each wire a label (e.g. “Junction A to Junction B”, “Junction B to battery”, “Junction B to rear derailleur”, etc).

The 105 Di2 levers also miss the customisable hood-top buttons seen on the more expensive groupsets, but unless you’ve already grown to rely on them, this is hardly a deal-breaker. Swapping wheels over could cause more or less incidence of rub, but it was simple to adjust and dial out. Ashley Quinlan / Our Media

When in doubt, choose a slightly longer wire than you think you need. All wires cost roughly the same, and having a wire that is slightly too long is not a problem - excess wire can be hidden in the frame.

Tripster AT, GX Race, CX Race, CX Race Evo, Aithein Evo, Aithein Disc, 4S Disc, 4S Disc Thru Axle, Pro6 v2 and Maxlight Phase.Type 4 Port Two Cable has two holes, both allowing you to run 4mm gear outer and/or 5mm brake outer cable internally through the frame. so you might be putting d) ahead of a) if you start cutting the frame about. Its bad enough that mere fashion has probably caused you to have holes in highly stressed parts of the frame anyway...? Thanks for the detailed reply! I run a Garmin 520 on a K-Edge out front mount with the GoPro mount on the bottom side. I know that there are companies that are 3D printing inserts for the bottom that are designed to hold a Di2 junction box so you bring up some good points in your first two paragraphs; I could easily auto cable wrap or electrical tape some things together to clean things up a bunch, thanks! I wonder if it isn't better to cut the Di2 wires, and splice a length of different (thinner, individual strands, or ribbon perhaps) cable into the Di2 harness. This could be bonded to the inside of the shell with epoxy resin. Worst case if it doesn't work is that it costs you a harness?

There is only a tiny gap between the front derailleur and 11-speed crank arm (left), while the gap is larger for the 12-speed crankset (right) This approach contrasts with SRAM’s modular design across Red eTap AXS, Force AXS, Rival eTap AXS, and Apex AXS, where each derailleur gets its own separate battery. These can be cheaper than buying all components separately… but there’s no guarantee. Quite often it’s worth shopping around and looking for discounts. Type 3 Port Di2 has a 7x8mm hole to allow a Di2 cable to pass through. It will require a 7x8mm Di2 bung You can change between the shift modes by double-pressing the button on your junction box. When you do this the bike cycles through three modes:Yep, it is possible to set up a Di2 system with just a junction A. This means running cables from your Junction A to every component you want to connect. I won’t go into the details as much as I did above, but one way to do this is: The length of those wires depends on where you place the JC304 junction. Some people put it in the stem or the handlebar, while others place it in the down tube. I've written a pretty big 'complete guide' on Synchronized Shift before, so read that if you want to know everything there is to know about synchronized shifting. You can also set up synchronized shifting using the mobile app, if you have a wireless unit installed. Type 5 Port Twin has two holes, both allowing you to run 4mm gear outer internally through the frame. I personally tend to leave it untouched, but I like riding with a gear in reserve (serving as a kind of intangible mental boost).
