Another solution is to wipe off any excess paste, dry with a clean dry cloth and use painter's tape to hold down the overlap until the paste is dry. This is time-consuming but effective if needed. Higher than a kitchen table and just wider than a roll of wallpaper, this lightweight folding platform is perfect for measuring, cutting and pasting paper. W-leg tables are more stable than cheaper versions, but plastic ones are the sturdiest of all - as well as being the simplest to clean and store. Plumb line/chalk line Prep your wallsYou should also ensure any existing wallpaper has been stripped away to avoid any air bubbles or bumps when you lay the new sheets. All freshly plastered walls should have wall sealer applied prior to wallpapering, as this is crucial for seamless and successful application. Smooth down the paper and brush into the corner so it overlaps the wallpaper your carried round the bend.

What is the use of a desktop wallpaper? Well, adding a wallpaper to your desktop is not mandatory. In fact, you can decide to use a dark colour, and life will move on as usual. However, this element comes with a sense of beauty. They add glamor to your computer and make it look aesthetically appealing and highly presentable. Sometimes, people display their feelings through the use of desktop wallpapers. Interesting, huh? You can add an image that shows how you feel or one that means something to you. Adding a quote will act as a reminder of what inspires you in your day-to-day life. That said, desktop wallpapers cannot be ignored, they mean different things to different people.Decorating tools are essential for fixing up and improving your home, whether you’re repainting, repairing or sealing. Our range of painting supplies makes repainting any part of your home a breeze, from paint trays and dust sheets to a wide variety of brushes and rollers to suit the size of the job. Step 7: Start hanging wallpaper on the next wall (optional)Once your first wall and corner is covered, repeat the process from step 2 again by starting 50cm from the edge of the wall. Can I design desktop wallpapers? Yes, you can! You do not need to be a graphic designer for you to do this. All you need to do is to know how to save images as wallpapers, and there you go! You will have a wallpaper that suits your needs and preferences. For any wall fixtures, ensure the mains are switched off for that circuit and hang your wallpaper along that stretch of wall, then pinch and press down over the fixture’s faceplate, before trimming diagonal slits to the centre from each corner. Then cut the paper away completely, but leave a 6mm of excess. Paste the paper to the wall and where the fixture is, loosen the faceplate screws slightly, before feeding a few millimetres of excess paper inside and tightening again. Yes you do. Why? Inner and outer corners on internal walls are very rarely completely straight as Clark explains: “Walls and corners are rarely straight, so it's important when wallpapering any corner to ensure your drops remain vertical and parallel to the other drops.” You want to start in a corner that doesn’t have any obstacles, such as a window frame, door frame or light switches, in the way, if possible.

Top tips for hanging wallpaper

When you soak wallpaper to prepare it for stripping, score the surface first with a rotary scorer as it helps the water to penetrate. Then just use a scraper to lift the paper off the wall. Paper-hanging brush The soft bristles on this brush are designed to smooth wallpaper by squeezing out any air bubbles and excess paste. Wash the bristles in warm water when you've finished to keep it fresh and usable. Wallpaper steamer These scissors have extra-long blades that make it easier to cut your wallpaper in straight lines. Wallpaper table (pasting table)

Hanging wallpaper on outer corners is similar to inner corners with a subtle difference. When you have less than a full width drop towards the corner you need to measure the distance but leave a bigger overlap — typically 40-50mm. (This is typically a technique used when wallpapering a chimney breast.) Use your folding rule or measuring tape to measure the height of the wall at various points. The longest/highest part of the wall is the initial dimension for cutting the wallpaper. To be on the safe side, add 5 cm to the top and bottom end so you can deal with potential differences in the height of the wall if necessary. As the beginning of the roll does not necessarily show the complete image of the basic pattern, you should manually hold it up on the wall. Our wallpaper girl chose the middle of the wall to determine the start of the pattern and then begins at the top. If you cut in flush to a corner rather than overlapping there is a very good chance that when the wallpaper dries you will be left with a gap exposing the wall underneath. This is why overlapping is important, especially if using patterned wallpaper. Add on 1cm (or a little more if the plastering is uneven) to create an overlap that will cover the inside of the corner. Hang the drop as normal”, advises Clark, “then using a brush or wallpaper smoothing tool, smooth it towards the corner and trim off the excess wallpaper that overlaps onto the adjoining wall, ensuring your cut line is straight. Trim any access from the top and bottoms of the drop as normal.” 3. Keep it straight

If you have decided on wallpapering your ceiling as well, it’s best to start here before going on to the walls so you can achieve a more professional finish. Want to make sure you hang your wallpaper straight? Use a plumb line (a weight on the end of a string) to get a perfectly straight vertical line. And if you need to draw a straight edge on most surfaces, snap a chalk line. Wallpaper scorer Carefully unfold the first part of your concertina and place it into position with the edge of the paper on the guide line. This allows you to do a complete uninterrupted drop which will give you a nice straight edge to butt up against when you put up the next drop. Start about a third of a roll away from the corner. Do you overlap wallpaper in corners? If you try to wrap the whole drop around a corner, you will typically find that its difficult to get rid of wrinkles, spoiling a neat-looking finish. And its unlikely that the other edge of the wallpaper will be straight, which it needs so you can continue wallpapering. What corner do you start wallpapering first? Step 5: Hang the next strips of wallpaperRepeat step 3 again and keep going until you get to a corner. Once you’ve laid it down in its section and are happy with the alignment, use your soft seam roller to smooth between the two wallpaper strip lines for a flawless finish. How to hang wallpaper on a feature wallIf you’re utilising a bold colour or printed wallpaper for a feature wall, remember all eyes will be on it the second someone steps into a room. You will need to pay extra attention to detail, particularly with corners and elements like fireplaces. So, when it comes to measurements, these will need to be correct to the millimetre – with any excess neatly trimmed away with your knife.
