About this deal

Once you have spread the product over each piece of trim, gently wipe away residue immediately with a Microfibre Buff Cloth. If your car has heavily textured trim take time to ensure all crevices are covered, and that all residue is also removed. I've just applied it ... I have no idea how long it will last. I have VERY high hopes and equally, HIGH expectations.

It has made a noticable difference to the slightly faded plastics and even got rid of one minor stain - plastics have a lustre added to them.Nothing makes all your hard work after perfecting the paint look more incomplete then old faded trim. I seem to have a weak spot for trying lots of different trim coatings, and I must say that Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer certainly has become one of my favorites to use since trying it. As with most of the trim coatings on the market, C4 is claiming a durability of roughly 24 months. Product Description Expensive for what it is and does not come with enough application pads as stated in above review. Also spoke to G Techniq for advice on how much I would need for the entire interior of an Audi A3... guess what? I ran out. Now I have a brand spanking new looking interior but a driver side door that looks aged.

What this means is that you now have a protective coating of unparalleled durability. Unlike many trim products on the market C4 is an exceptionally thin (circa 30nm) optically clear film which means that it does not add an unattractive gloss film to the surface instead it restores all but the most faded trim to an as new condition. You can expect approximately 2 years from a single application. Ensure the surface(s) you are going to coat are free from any contaminants. For best results clean trim with a neat solution of W2 APC Universal Cleaner Concentrateand if required use a medium stiff brush. It may take a couple applications and some elbow grease to work the product into the trim to an even finish. To be fair, I’d rather use a product that took a little work to apply but lasted than one that was super easy and washes away the first time it rains. The final option would be to simply paint the plastic trim. The plastic may be past restoring and this would be a permanent fix. Alternatively, you could plasti dip the plastic trim or even use automotive vinyl wrap to cover up any defects. I’m a big fan of Meguiar’s products. They’ve actually managed to create useful enthusiast grade products and make them available to everyone. It used to be if you walked into a big box store or automotive store your only options were Armorall or some no name snake oil product. Now you actually have useful options. Soak the pad with several drops of product. Use the AP1 Lint-free Applicator supplied to spread the coating onto the surface of your trim.

Why use Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer? C4 utilises a covalent or chemical bond to become an extension of the plastic molecule it's protecting. Not to be confused with much weaker electrostatic bonds used by, amongst others, ptfe based polymers C4 swaps part of its molecular structure with the surface molecules of your car's trim. You can expect up to 2 years durability from a single application. Using a heat gun to heat up the trim can bring out the oils in the plastic. However, all plastics are different and only so much oil can be taken from the plastic. It would also be best to test on a hidden piece of plastic before you attempt visible areas.Gtechniq C4 utilises a covalent or chemical bond to actually become an extension of the plastic molecule it's protecting. Not to be confused with much weaker electrostatic bonds used by, amongst others, ptfe based polymers Gtechniq C4 actually swaps part of its molecular structure with the surface molecules of your car's trim. The first is how well the surface is prepped before applying it. If the trim has not been well prepared, then this will have an impact on how well the C4 adheres to and makes a bond with the trim. The other factor is the condition of the trim before the C4 was applied. The fact that it’s lasted over a year longer than advertised is a huge bonus. For heavily textured trim take the time to ensure all crevices are covered, and that all residue is also removed Application is quite simple with C4. Included in the kit is everything you will need to use, including cotton applicators that will be used to apply the product. You will apply a small amount of coating on the applicator to start applying. A small amount will go a long way when using this product, and you will want to be sure that you are applying the product evenly. There are a lot of trim restorers available, some of which are temporary, and others being semi-permanent. In the case of Gtechniq C4, it is a semi-permanent trim restorer. How To Use Gtechniq C4

To begin the application, you will want to thoroughly clean the trim. I like using Einszett Plastic Deep Cleaner, as shown in my previous blog on this product. Gtechniq C4 is more than just a polish though. The reason it appealed to us to test was due to the fact that, according to the blurb, “ Gtechniq C4 utilises a covalent or chemical bond to actually become an extension of the plastic molecule it’s protecting. Not to be confused with much weaker electrostatic bonds used by, amongst others, ptfe based polymers Gtechniq C4 actually swaps part of its molecular structure with the surface molecules of your car’s trim.” vc_column_text][fancy-ul icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-chevron-right” color=”Accent-Color” alignment=”left” spacing=”default” enable_animation=”true”] This product has an oily consistency that makes it easy to spread out for an even finish. Since it’s a topical solution it also helps repel water and other contaminants. I do know how long other products last, though. I have settled on Autobright TNT Treatment as my preferred plastics enhancer and apply that every couple of weeks. I don't see a lot better from any other product and find that product so easy to use that it is almost a pleasure. You know what I'm saying. Obviously, I won't be using it any more on areas that have C4.The unfortunate reality is that plastic restorers are not permanent fixes. They will fade over time and will degrade fast in rainy environments. You can slow this process down by using a plastic sealant or protectant. Instead, quality plastic restorers will be absorbed by the plastic and break down the oxidation that causes the lightened and ashy appearance. They will nourish the plastic and last a good amount of time, at least several months. They will also provide an even finish, like that of new plastic. Autoglym bumper and trim gel takes second place in this review and delivers great results at a really affordable price point. It’s a very different product to the top spot winner Gtechniq C4, it doesn’t have any of the chemical bonding process that the C4 does but it does a good job in it’s own right. Autoglym are a huge player in the UK car care market and have years and years of experience in delivering products that are easy to use, affordable and deliver great results.
