About this deal

For myself, I too love this movie. It’s hard to write a more glowing review about a movie like this than the one we already have on file. Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved the look and feel of stop motion animation watching the classic Ray Harryhausen movies like The 7th Voyage of Sinbad and Clash of the Titans. There’s something magical about these creatures that CGI just doesn’t capture. So when you get an entire feature film made in that painstakingly slow process I get pretty excited! Previously available only as an exclusive hardware-tied release, 'Coraline' 3D is now available everywhere. Now with extras! Creepy Coraline – More animation techniques and puppetry this time concentrating more on the bug element, be it rats, slugs or other mother’s evolving dress. Burton-esque production design choices. delivers an experience that seems to erase the boundaries of the speakers and engulf the listener into Gaiman’s penance for writing ‘other worldly fantasy’ is certainly nothing new, Lovecraft and Barker spent years exploring the darker dimensions that impinge on our own world, normally to the detriment of those that find them. Whereas there is definitely something sinister and dark about Gaiman's ‘other’ worlds, there usually isn’t anything directly malevolent when compared to his illustrious inspirations. That, however, is very different with Coraline, whose ‘other’ world was spun with only one intent; to capture and devour. There is no ‘boo-hiss’ villainy here, and it is distinctly unsavoury when such evil masquerades itself behind a veil of sweetness and love, especially knowing that is how real predator’s work. The ‘don’t trust strangers baring gifts’ motif is plain to see, but, thankfully, it never becomes preachy or overbearing, due, in large part, with how the characters interact, there are plenty of verbal warnings, but never laboured, and there is no false, or schmaltz, ending.
