About this deal

After EQ-ing the 4-5k region the sound is much more coherent and enjoyable, but then the treble around 8-10k or maybe even higher becomes another issue one which I have yet to EQ properly. It makes the sound of cymbals and S sounds quite piercing and harsh on music that is not very well recorded and generally pushes cymbals too forward. Regarding 668B they're plenty loud even from portable devices or a laptop. They're about the same as the 681s. No, the difference is not big. However, the 668B sounds a bit more balanced and warmer, at least for my taste.

To be noted, as the Superlux HD681 are studio monitoring headphones they come with a long 2.5 m cable that could be a bit strange to manage if you are planning to use them while walking through the streets of your city (though by design they were not created to be used during daily commuting or even outside a studio or home) I have owned all three hd681 models at one point, but decided to keep the 681 because it was the most apart from the rest of the Superluxes I had/have. I would guess that this is the 2nd badge of the HD681. differentiable by the position of "2x32ohm" print* The AKG pads are a must for any of these Superluxes, so 662 will probably end up both more expensive and to whatever extent inferior in sound quality. I also thought about the 668. they are a little bit more expensive but also have 56ohm impedance, which is a little bit more than 681. Will it have any effect on the integrated sound card on the MB, or maybe on the clip+?

They also have a more friendly tonality, as the treble energy is greatly reduced. They actually sound rather dark, compared to the other Superluxes. For me personally that's not a problem, as I 'm not a fan of closed designs, due to their sound qualities and signature. Your millage may vary. Great review! Had a white EVO and still burning in. Agree very much on your assessment of the bass department. Not bass head facourites certainly, but the amount EVO can output is satisfying for most I think! I happened to be building a soft synth in Pure Data one evening, and decided to generate some frequencies to find out what I could hear at 59 years of age. I managed to take the frequency to about 17k and could hear it still through the headphones. That's higher than a Shure SM58 captures.

In the case of 668B, relative to the normal 681 it has to do mostly with the treble. The 668B has a bit less treble emphasis and more prominent lower midrange. The end result being a bit warmer and more balanced sound.Mids: Mids where very clear from the beginning. The guitars really slammed me in the mixes I'd allready did with the DT770. But seems the Superlux puches mid foreward a bit. Cause when I lowered the volume of the guitars they became recessed in the mix. So I would call the mids a bit "over the top". These head phones are amzing for the price! Bought them for my helix LT and im stoked with the results. Unbeatable thanks artist guitars SO today is time to make a little review of a not so well keeped secret chinese monitor headphone Gem. Comfort-wise the clamp was a bit on the strong side for me. And as Skar mentioned, the headband doesn't seem to adjust smoothly. I found the headband on my original HD681B much better, it was very elastic, much more "springy". The EVO's on the otherhand, felt very stiff. I actually have to forcefully pull the earcups down to reach my ears. Further the "lingering around bass" i didnt feel on first glimpse, but the above thread poster might have simply better ears for that or spent more time with them.
