About this deal

If on the other hand you’re well versed in the story of how the Imperium came to be, the Great Crusade and the finding of the Primarchs, then prepare to enjoy having some well established “facts” revealed as falsehoods, key events turned on their heads and major players re-examined from a uniquely insightful perspective. Black Library novels can be a bit of a mixed bag, some are excellent, many are a bit duff if I’m honest – Space Marine fan-fiction with dubious plot lines and turgid battles of blazing bolters. He is so multifaceted: at one point he is calmly and efficiently destroying xenos creatures, and at another point he is musing on how it is often beneficial to be kind to humans. THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES and the names of the characters, items, events and places therein are trademarks of The Saul Zaentz Company d/b/a Middle-earth Enterprises under license to New Line Productions, Inc. A leather-effect, ribbed spine, and embedded metal centrepiece are all included, while the gilt page edges and ribbon bookmark complete the handsome presentation.

By showing us each of his brothers through Alpharius’ eyes, Brooks gives us one of the most convincing sketches of why the Primarchs were created. Reddit and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with a better experience. Not too heavy on the bolter usage and action side of things from the outset however the story soon builds and a quest begins. As the resident Goonhammer Chaos Guy, you might expect that I’d jump at the chance to read a book about Alpharius’ origins. There are only 2,500 copies available, so don’t just lurk in the shadows – be prepared to strike if you want it. There are many mighty and infamous ork warlords across the galaxy, but none inspire as much fear and awe as Ghazghkull Thraka.

I continue to be impressed by the Warhammer books and their complexity without being overbearing or beating me over the head about information I don't really know.If you have read quite a bit of Warhammer 40K lore you will find much to like in here but like me it will probably leave you just a tad bit hungry for more. The arrival of the Lumineth Realm-lords in Warhammer Age of Sigmar has seen aelves springing up on tabletops around the world – and sparked something of a pointy-eared renaissance in fiction as well.

You can catch up on the Siege of Terra so far in The Solar War , The Lost and the Damned , The First Wall , and Saturnine , along with the novella Sons of the Selenar . From James Swallow’s Sisters of Battle: The Omnibus to Rachel Harrison’s Mark of Faith and Danie Ware’s novella trilogy, comprising The Bloodied Rose , Wreck and Ruin , and The Rose in Anger , there are loads of books you can read to show your devotion to the God-Emperor. Black Library limited edition books are works of art in their own right, just as ready to be picked up and read as displayed proudly on your bookshelves. It's a breath of fresh air from the identity politics and egoism that so often pervades other Astartes.

REVIEW: Alpharius: Head of the Hydra - Grimdark Magazine REVIEW: Alpharius: Head of the Hydra - Grimdark Magazine

Alpharius has become my favorite primarch and this story makes me need to read more stories of the Alpha legion. The End of Enlightenment pits the Realm-lords against the servants of Nagash, who dare to assault Hysh itself. I don’t normally do book reviews here, at least in part because writing them is bloody hard work and although I take my hat off to those who do it, it’s something I very much struggle to pull off.Whether this telling is Alpharius' one truthful confession or a complete fabrication does not matter, as it is still a banger. It features stunning cover art to match the limited edition of Ravenor , plus a new introduction by Dan Abnett, individual numbering from 1 to just 1,250 (set a reminder now if you want to secure one for yourself), and an autograph from the man himself. I was only disappointed in one fashion, I was hoping to learn more of the Alpha Legions betrayal, and why, from the primarchs pov but alas.
