Now, for those of us who are not fans of inhaling the entire contents of our cordless vacuums upon emptying them into the bin, and are likewise tired of re-hoovering the dispersed contents, this might just be a saving grace. Hetty is pink in colour – and can be referred to as the pink Henry Hoover – whereas Henry comes in traditional red.

This is a small tool with a brush for agitating hairs and dirt from carpets, which improves cleaning performance. It has many of the same features as the corded version, but comes with a 36V battery and is one of the few cordless vacs to have a bagged design. Happily, when I first opened Hetty, I discovered mostly cardboard packaging and no hideous polystyrene that would inevitably end up in landfill.But due to restrictions on the motor power of vacuum cleaners first introduced by the EU in 2014, Numatic heavily reduced the motor power that the new Hetty model has, which has resulted in the newer versions of Hetty no longer having a suction control switch. This model deals with pesky pet hair, has a brush for carpeting and a hard floor brush, has a 9L capacity with an energy Class of A, comes with storage… the list goes on, and on, and on. Henry has also been built to be long-lasting, meaning he should last in your home for years to come. If you’re looking for a compact Henry Hoover but prefer the Hetty’s pink colour scheme – you’re in luck! Using an advanced, multi-layer MicroTex filtration system, like the Henry Allergy the Henry Micro is great at picking up particles and preventing allergens from spreading around the home.

Yellow in colour, James has a slightly smaller bag capacity – eight litres rather than nine – than that of the Henry 200-11, his more famous family member. Probably best known for this appearance – something which has helped to make this vacuum cleaner something of a celebrity and household name – it shouldn’t be forgotten that he is also a very capable vacuum. Aside from the bagged design, the Henry Quick has the features we’d expect from a mid-range cordless. Every part of the machine is designed to be water-friendly and it has an impressive 9-litre storage capacity, so just attack the spillage and watch it disappear. Green in colour, Harry comes with an additional Hairo brush which is perfect for picking up pet hair from both floors and upholstery.But I just made sure I always had the dusting brush and upholstery tool attached, as for me, these are the ones I use the most. I must point out though, that I was kneeling and crouching down, I wouldn’t get this reach standing up.

Once the mess is tackled, Hetty packs neatly and tidily away with on-board tool storage and a ‘trouble-free’ cable rewind system. Big green and friendly he’s great in the dry happy cleaning up spills, or scrubbing away stubborn stains. It provides an outstanding level of cleaning with carpets and is the perfect tool for cleaning up pet hairs, as well as those bits of pet food that don’t quite stay in the bowl and other edibles such as cat grass. Henry Cordless will take three and a half hours to be fully charged, and has got a large capacity for a cordless of six litres. Whilst the standard Henry HepaFlo bags suit the likes of Henry, Hetty, James or Harry, you can also pick up larger bags which are needed for George, Charles, Henry XL and Henry XL Plus.

The standard Henry and Hetty vacuums are great machines that will get almost any vacuum job done with little fuss, but there’s now lots of other options, some of which may be more appealing depending on what you need. While the George also cleans carpets and upholstery, the Charles is able to sook up spillage without exploding. There’s now fourteen different products in the Henry range, including a number of different Henry Hoover names which make up the Henry Hoover family. For stairs I removed two of the wand sections, so I had the floorhead attached to the top section, and this worked quite well.
