Wah sounds were pretty basic and perfectly usable, but there were no advanced options for tweaking their sounds as we’ve found on some newer wah pedals. Incredible delays, reverbs and modulations from the stompbox modeler series but lackluster distortions (some adjustments are required to reduce excesive high end). Happily, the M9 cannot be blamed for any “tone suckage,” as many players have experienced with some old or cheap gear. He has engineered, produced and performed on countless recording sessions in a diverse range of styles, with artists such as Alien Ant Farm, Jules Day, Voodoo Glow Skulls, John McGill, Michael Knott and Alexa's Wish. Problem is, I don't know of anything that does what the M9 can in terms of setting it up like a bunch of individual pedals, tap tempo, looper etc that isn't getting into silly money.

Line 6 M9 Stompbox Modeler DisplayIn its simplest operation, just step on a button to activate one of your six pedals. Inspired by the simplicity of classic stompboxes, the Line 6 M9 guitar effects pedal is incredibly easy to use. The drives and comps are believable and definitely get the job done - I have an old school RAT and Tubescreamer though so I've yet to use the M9 drives exclusively. I'm fairly new to electric guitar (been playing acoustic for years) and all the "toys" that come with electric guitars. I use this more than my TC Electronics G-system while playing live because it is to easy to tweak settings 'on-the-fly'.Here at Life Guitars, we pride ourselves in breathing new life into pre-loved guitars, amps and pedals. Looping has never been easier with dedicated footswitches for all looper controls: Record/Overdub, Play/Stop, Play Once, Undo/Redo, Half Speed and Reverse. But if you require more flexible effect routing options (plus the ability to play up to four effects at once and a few other minor differences), you may want to check out the more elaborate M13.

Speaking of ease of use, the interface is largely free of menus and scrolling through seemingly endless lists of parameters just to change a setting on an effect. Essentially the M9 is a distillation of everything Line 6 Have learnt on the subject of pedal modelling loaded into a box with a user-friendly switching system. The second thing you’ll notice is that it has lots more footswitches and buttons than the M9, most notably that expression pedal on the right-hand side.
