It comes at you as this eerie disembodied voice from God and it's really effective without smashing out other sound elements.

The colour scheme brings the richly cream-and-wood-dominated palette to life with panache, soaking up deep hues, and rendering solid, impenetrable black levels undoubtedly courtesy of that extra Dolby Vision enhancement. Switching between the old Blu-ray and this new 4K Ultra HD disc, it's easy to see and appreciate how far home video technology has come. There are a few scenes where black levels aren't quite up to snuff, they're a tad on the brown side, and there are a few soft scenes that still stick out but overall, it's a notable improvement. Dynamics: There is a cool, calmness about American Psycho that stirs not only in this surround presentation, but within Patrick Bateman himself. Blu-ray B Germany- Koch Media - No cuts – Includes the Unrated version (102:01) and the R-rated version (101:43).In 1987, twenty-something Wall Street banker Patrick Bateman (Bale) seems to have it all: he is handsome, successful and engaged to the beautiful Evelyn (Reese Witherspoon). Too bad Lionsgate couldn't have gone with a BD-50 dual-layer disc for this release and squeezed in the rest of the extras. However, there are enough folks like me who find the good in black comedies like these and that’s why whether its uncut version or R-rated one American Psycho is very much a bonafide living, breathing cult classic thriller.

Bret Easton Ellis' novel "American Psycho" rocked the literary world in 1991 with all the subtlety of a tidal wave. the on disc supplements, the packaging here is probably going to be the biggest selling point for a lot of fans. American Psycho's 4K release is no exception, with all of the old extras making the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc itself - including Commentaries, Deleted Scenes with optional Commentary, and two Featurettes on the 80s New York scene and the adapting the book - but also a further, new Commentary from the Director to boot. The one universal truth remains that you’ll never think of Huey Lewis’ song “Hip To Be Square” any other way after watching this zany, psychological horror film. Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) is a Wall Street yuppie, obsessed with success, status, and style, with a stunning fiancée (Reese Witherspoon). But American Psycho, despite some early misgivings I had with the film when I first saw it in films, is really the one that put him on the zeitgeist forever. The film has a very Hitchcock-meets-Kubrick feeling of sterility, with a great deal of whites and other clean surfaces, accented by hard blue and deep red.

Christian Bale far from the first choice to play Patrick Bateman and Mary Harron not the first director on board . The acting is generally excellent, Christian Bale able to portray both sides of Bateman flawlessly, with similar turns from Reese Witherspoon, Willem Defoe and Jared Leto. Though the image does clean up as the film progresses, there are still moments that are noticeably more ragged, with excessive grain and even dirt. For more about American Psycho 4K and the American Psycho 4K Blu-ray release, see American Psycho 4K Blu-ray Review published by Jeffrey Kauffman on October 2, 2021 where this Blu-ray release scored 4. Inside the packaging follows a fairly standard format, with both discs stacked on the right, and the digital code tucked into the left side. The scene in the bathroom where they're trying to do coke that's been mixed with sweetener is a great highlight of the activity in the room. The '80s Downtown" is a very intriguingly shot 32-minute assemblage of hazy recollections, documenting the merging and mingling of Wall Street Yuppie culture and the decadent, drug-fueled club scene that formed the background for 'Psycho' (as well as Ellis' earlier "Less Than Zero" and Jay Mcinerney's "Bright Lights, Big City"). I kept flipping back and forth between them and she was saying the exact same anecdotes and observations all the way through. Anytime Bateman and his pals are in a big empty restaurant or a loud and busy club, you can really feel and appreciate the added room this mix affords.
