Two brilliant things about this book, the incredible cover and inside illustrations, and Atti the gecko.

It took a while to get through and despite his final rating, he had to ask me what was happening a few times and told me he couldn't imagine the world in his head (me too). Really packed with plenty of fun, this fast moving story will keep the reader gripped as Railey and bio-robotic gecko friend Atti are forced to flee skywards. There are heart-in-throat moments, and, thanks to Gemma’s incredibly visual writing (I felt like I was watching a film throughout), it feels urgent and real.

Ever since her dad gave her an old telescope at the age of eight, she’s been obsessed with space and everything that goes with it. Gemma Fowler’s world-building is exceptional, and her version of Earth has echoes of Blade Runner, Wall-E and Star Wars.

This was really cute, the plotline was actually more complex than I expected it to be but really interesting. In a distant future, Earth has become so overrun with junk that people have started firing it into the atmosphere, creating a thick layer of trash known as The Soup orbiting the planet. In fact, all the children are flawed and there’s a lot of growing up to do along the way; there are lessons to be learned.Competitors in their junk-constructed town’s drone races, they suddenly find their lives threatened by the terrifying Runners, and that they have an unexpected role to play in saving the world from destruction. In the shadows by the vending machines, Railey peered out of the gap between her jacket collar and her fringe. They discover a huge trash bomb which will destroy the world unless Railey and Atti and two other Junkers they meet, do something about it and its power crazed creator. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Les personnages sont aussi crédibles que des geckos volants : la petite de 9 ans est plus compétente que celle de 16 ans de sait rien faire de ses 10 doigts.

I would recommend it to pretty much everyone, especially for people who enjoy sci-fi stories, or are passionate about the environment. I loved the fact that she was fearless and so very sarcastic yet adorably awkward when it came to showing any kind of affection.Otherwise, this is a fun read, lots of chases, escaping the baddies and saving the planet, aimed at middle grade readers.
