Years after the events in DCeased, Cyborg's head sends out a distress signal, and Superboy (now Superman) heads up the team that goes on a rescue mission. You kind of miss the character work of DCeased, though, where Tom Taylor really made you care about a superhero right before killing them. This story picks with the JL on another earth when they receive a warning from cyborg that a cure maybe available and thus begins their quest to find the cure but losing some teammates on the way and unexpected pairs and relationships and then we have the greatest moment ever when we have multi-threats of Amazo and Trigon coming to earth to want the souls of the living. I suppose DCeased was a creative mash-up of DC superheroes and zombies, it just didn’t make for all that compelling reading. Following their reunion with Krypto, the League land on the coordinates of Cyborgs signal, finding both his head and the Lasso of Truth in the process.

Miracle offers up the crystal ball, but before he can obtain it, the League ambush him, but fail to remove him from the chair and he attempts to flee. It’s when a faint signal transmission coming from Cyborg back on Earth that they revisit their dead planet only to learn that there might be a cure to all the madness. I'm not sure I've ever liked them more, as Taylor's version of these two now-adult superheroes was just about as perfect as it was subtly surprising. Their next stop is the Rock of Eternity, where John needed the Staff of Shazam, however because of Ravager's foresight, she warned of incoming danger.

The art by Trevor Hairsine is really good throughout, telling the story clearly but with plenty of verve. Though John would help, he's in the middle of a battle, leading to Swamp Thing killing off the Anti-Living in the process. I'm gonna miss the DCeased universe and all its gore, but most importantly, the incredible heroics we saw under this scenario. Alfred, now living with Leslie Thompkins, struggles with his guilt over the deaths of his sons and begs to join Damian in the fight against the Anti-Living.He also makes good use of splash pages to capture some of the more iconic moments within each issue, allowing the reader to really soak in the sense of hope and life that still exists despite their mission to save a dead planet. Jon intervenes, as he hears Cyborg say there's a cure and ends up with the Sword of Athena through his arm and Wonder Woman's as well. Swamp Thing explains to Constantine that there is a garden in Australia which needs his help, to which John refuses at first, but not before Swamp Thing angrily convinces him otherwise.

During the incident, Arrow is blinded, then attacked by an infected Wonder Woman, which causes Dinah to retaliate with her Canary cry, which in conjunction with Hawkgirl's mace, Wonder Woman is taken down and nearly killed by Dinah. Back on Earth, in the Tower of Fate, Constantine and Fate are in front of a door, which John opens and enters. At this point, it's way more subversive to have a Batman who's personable, funny, comfortable in his own skin, and aware of his traumas in a healthy way. In the New Hall of Justice, the league assembles and learns that the tracker Batman placed on Cyborg is being used to send the signal, requesting for the Justice League. While Robert Kirkman’s Marvel Zombies had more laughs and, arguably, more blood and guts, DCeased was a pretty decent story that certainly tugged on the heart strings a lot more, to its credit. Ivy however stops Dinah from bringing a now infested Arrow into their sanctuary, but Dinah leaves with him, refusing to leave his side and Cyborg reveals to them there is a cure and it was within Cyborg. Wish there was more for Lois Lane to do, and perhaps that'll follow in the next volume given certain developments here.
