Description

Desire by Alfred Dunhill enjoyed plenty of popularity after its release in 1997. That popularity has waned some since then, however, that doesn’t mean that it has suddenly become a bad scent. This is a rather unique cologne for men, which will fill a certain niche in a man’s inventory of scents or become a daily wear for a certain type of guy. In this post, I want to explore my thoughts about Desire, after wearing it around for a few days in the past week and whether or not I would recommend it. As it’s more moderate and mild, it would probably be a solid option to wear at junior positions or if sharing an open space office. After about an hour, the fruit notes begin to lose some of their potency and Desire evolves into a more woodsy and oriental type of fragrance. It is still sweet, but you get more of the teak wood and musky base. Finally, Silver is very mild compared to the other flankers. While the ambergris bring forward the refreshing sea-breeze notes with a hint of musk, the birch is very underplayed and the vetiver just about adds some character to this subtle fragrance.

Interestingly, and this is just an observation, each of the caps have a knurled finish except for Desire Blue. For some reason, it’s very slightly different. Similarly, it also features the name down the side while all the others are blank. The result is very reminiscent of old-school power frags and evokes classics like Aramis and even the original 1934 Dunhill For Men.

Finally, Desire Silver is so mild and inoffensive that nobody disliked it. However, they weren’t enamoured by it either. Nevertheless, its clean and soapy character was appreciated by people who thought it would be good for the gym or office. It is safe enough for daily office wear, if needed. It can also venture into the nightlife. I would probably reserve it for casual wear or other social events, but it does have the ability for other purposes. There is a exotic/oriental type of spice which develops after a few minutes of wear. I think it is the combination of vanilla and musk which provides this light spiciness. Being an unconditional of its mother fragrance, it took me a long time to know this version, and it is not because it did not appeal to me, which is not the case, but I believed the comments on it ... In the end, a few months ago, I bought, in a Offer, a bottle of 100ml, and since that day I do not want to stop having it in my collection, like its mother fragrance ... I love it, another wild card undisputed to me. Once into the base, Desire Red continues with its bubblegum sweetness, which persists well into the skin scent. However, it has developed a muskiness brought on by the presence of labdanum and just a dash of agarwood. This is significantly softened by a pinch of vanilla that further contributes to the sweetness.

As you can see above, each of the fragrances feature a note of bergamot. While this does bring them together, they’re expressed very differently. After all, it is one of the most popular opening notes in a fragrance. In the end, I am left with rose, vanilla, musk, wood, and some lingering sweetness from the fruit notes. It’s nice with a warm sweet/spice blend, quite attractive overall. Blue, quite literally on the other hand, has revealed its oceanic character with an unapologetic burst of calone. Fortunately, this is curbed slightly thanks to the orange blossom and rosewood, which some substance to the fatty aldehyde aquatic compound. Dunhill's Desire Extreme proves that not all luxurious-smelling scents are outrageously priced. It has been turning heads since 2017. Often called toilet water before modern times, eau de toilettes, such as this one, are less concentrated than EdPs and thus offer a briefer "staying time" of between 2-3 hours. Because they are lighter, they are a common choice for office wear. Elaborate Olfactory Pyramid An amazing turbo-charge of the original Dunhill Desire! Just as Ralph Lauren took things to the "extreme" by intensifying its Polo Red scent one step higher, Dunhill Desire Extreme achieves a near-parallel result here!
