Description

There were so many things I wanted to say, stream-of-consciousness things, designs and patterns while listening to music. I felt I might be able to say [them] if I had an unending canvas.”— pioneering experimental animator Mary Ellen Bute From doing this explorative strategy I have learnt that there can be a lot of conflict in a relationship, also some people may not necessarily marry for love, but rather for money or social status, this seams to be the case with the Igors.

Written in 1989 but still astonishingly real today, this much performed yet no less loved two-hander by the celebrated Lancastrian playwright waltzes the audience through a spectrum of human emotion, weaving a rich tapestry of life in a working class town through intimate insights into the lives of the colourful pub regulars. Two' lends itself entirely to the Royal Exchange's In The Round set up, with Amanda Stoodley's simple yet witty design featuring a striking chandelier of pint pots suspended above an island bar, which allows for an absorbing and inclusive atmosphere. The Spoken Thoughts I used were “He looks so happy! I feel so happy! This was meant to be, we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together.” For Lesley and for Roy “I will be more careful this time, I will give her no chances to leave.” Roy’s quote was used to suggest that he had had a relationship and it hadn’t worked. This idea could be used to explain why he is controlling over Lesley and violent to her. Because his past relationship had made him insecure and he didn’t want to be cheated or left again.

ERIC’S PRIDE AND PREJUDICE TAKES ON LITERARY CLASSIC

CLARE. Don’t worry. I still love you, that’s left. I keep on seeing faces, like me dad’s, me mum’s, me dad’s again. I still want to cry when I see me dad’s dismantled face. He lost his last job you know. Just think one day there might be the last job on earth. And everyone will come out to see the man lose it. They’ll all watch as he comes up to his last hour. The last hooter blow whoooooooooo oh oooooooo ooooooooooooooooo I’m being corny now, in’t a Joey? Oh my it’s white in here behind the eyes, so mist. Eight Miles High - Octagon * 1994 & 1995 Bristol Theatre Royal Nominated for Theatre Management Association Best Musical Award. directed by Andy Hay My initial response to the text was, it is an interesting story and I enjoyed it. It seemed to be centered on different stages of relationships. The underlying message seemed to be that trust is the key in all good relationships. She closes her eyes. Joey holds her. He makes a fist. He shakes it at the audience. He shakes it up at the sky. He shakes it at the door where the family are outside. He shakes it down under the bed. Then he puts it in front of his face and bites into his hand.

To which I replied “I wouldn’t dream of it ma’ boy, for my wife and I are still bound together. As soon as I leave this body an empty shell, Ma’ wife and I will be together for the rest of time.” The scene we looked at was the Roy and Lesley scene. My first impression of their relationship was that perhaps it had started well but had then led to domestic violence, rather then it being there from the start. And absorbed you will be. A massive success on all counts, Greg Hersov's interpretion of this richly woven play is engaging, hilarious, heartachingly sad and above all, honest. Directed by Anthony Banks.Smelly Jimmy is a strange character; he has no dialog yet makes a strong impact on the Landlord and Landlady, leaving the audience on a cliff hanging wondering what he said.
