This gives you better target ID and discrimination at greater depth, and the versatility to perform in a wider range of ground types, handling mineralisation, wet sand, etc. You won’t lose your settings in Custom search when you power off the 440 or when it runs out of power while you’re using it. There are several reasons why I believe Minelab has decided to release the Vanquish series … And would love to share some of them with you: You can go treasure hunting come rain or shine with the supplied V10 10″ x7″ Double-D coil that’s waterproof up to 3.3 feet and the water-resistant control box with an attached Rain Cover.

The design of the Vanquish series is rather curious, and while it really reminds a device from some kind of videogame of the 80s, at least it does not fall apart when handled (like Go-Find does). Vanquish looks pretty solid. The Minelab Vanquish outperforms the Garrett Ace series of metal detectors in depth, target separation, multi frequency options, and audio options. The Vanquish is a simplified version of the Minelab Equinox which is one of the most popular metal detectors on the market today. This is where Minelab starts to pull away from Garrett. The Double-D (DD) has been one the best performing coils on the market and Minelab chose to include a DD coil with every Vanquish. Small: 8*5 inches Double-D in case you are seeking for more sensitivity regarding smaller targets … However, this coil won’t cover lots of space and couldn’t go very deep. The Garrett Ace Series of metal detectors comes with 4 AA Alkaline batteries. The Minelab Vanquish 340 and 440 come with 4 AA Alkaline batteries. The only difference in this category is that the Vanquish 540 comes with 4 AA NiMH rechargeable batteries. Target ID's Are Very Different For Each Series of Metal Detectors.

Realistically, both series of metal detectors are good and both will find coins, relics, etc. It is really a matter of walking over a target to hear it. Both series of metal detectors will hear the same targets. It comes down to price and features. I think the Vanquish outshines and out performs the Ace Series but it really depends on what you are looking for in a metal detector and your budget. Waterproof, lightweight, and pretty functional, we would say this model of the series is very nice for beginner detectorists (mainly because it has pinpoint included!) Vanquish 540 This detector is all-purpose, uses Multifrequency and is compatible with several coils, which is cool. You can adjust audio tones and depth indication, and also control the volume of signal, because there is no vibration. The system is not rechargeable, and you can use only headphones for this model specifically. You also get much more functionality with the 440, as evident from the larger working area on the control box, which accommodates more buttons for improved usability and control. To compare the Vanquish with its big brother the Equinox wouldn’t be a fair fight really. The Equinox has a lot more adjustability and is aimed at the seasoned intermediate and advanced detectorist.

This machine was considered revolutionary as it could detect using a frequency of 15 KHz and 3 KHz. It has several advantages over the Vanquish 340, and a price comparable to the Vanquish 440. For a beginning metal detectorist, or if budget is an issue, I would highly recommend the Vanquish 340. Minelab is a great company offering quality products, so you will not be disappointed using one of their metal detectors! Another important thing to keep in mind is that – and Minelab haven’t even tries to conceal this fact! – the main purpose of this new series is to eventually bury the Garrett Ace metal detectors, the main favourite and one of the most popular series in the beginner segment on the market since the time of dinosaurs – since 2005, to be more precise. Battery: the 540 comes with rechargeable batteries instead of replaceable ones that the 440 and 340 have.

Below, I share the most important technical features of each model so you will be able to understand exactly what this machine series bring to the table. Minelab VANQUISH Series General Review Probably the most exciting feature of the Vanquish Series, which puts it way ahead of others in its price range (and above), which is probably better described as switchable frequency. Switching frequency is effectively like swapping one single frequency coil for another, without physically swapping it.

Garrett's Ace series as mentioned above (250, 300, and 400) all have 5 search modes and they are listed below: All Metal You can sometimes hit it with no problem without maxing out the sensitivity, but other times you won’t, especially when there’s high mineralization or EMI. Vanquish Series Comparison The very first thing to understand about Vanquish detectors is that this series was created for beginner level hunters. Yeah, the machines are equipped with multi-frequency technology, because Minelab made them cool, but they are still targeted at newbies.Like your own miracle, turning the device off, moving away from the area bombarded by EMI, restarting the device, and waiting for Automatic Noise Cancel should help remove the chatter. The coils are of a DD type which make them perform excellently amongst iron and are give fantastic target separation. So where does this leave us with the Vanquish? The problem with the 340 and 440 in having iron bias fixed to “high” is that you will perhaps miss some good targets that have been masked by iron. It is a compromise but, is it one you can accept? Is it one that I can accept? For the answer to that, I have to think about how I use the Equinox and I don’t rely on any sort of iron bias. If I get a choppy two-way signal I usually dig it anyway. If nothing else it is good exercise and I have sometimes been rewarded with a good find. VANQUISH welcomes tough terrain. It dominates at the beach in wet sand and salt water, outperforming other detectors that cant compete. 4 discrimination segments deliver control over what metals you want to accept or reject. No matter what you seek, the VANQUISH 340 has you covered. I hope this post was able to provide you some useful information to help you determine which metal detector best suits your needs.
