Description

In terms of design, it can be classified as a field watch. It has a sleek profile and a clear military-inspired look. This is further extended via the green color of the dial and strap that the SNK805 has. This model is also available in other colors to suit all tastes. In terms of proportions, there is really nothing to complain about here. On the outer edge of the dial, you can find small dots at each five-minute marking. These are lame dots that glow in the dark and help improve the legibility of the watch in low-lit conditions. This watch includes a window made of mineral crystal. It’s scratch/impact-resistant and is used most off in the watchmaking industry. Couldn’t you use your smartphone or tablet to get this info? You could, but it’s less convenient than a wristwatch that’s always within arm’s reach. Just glance down at the SNK805, and you’ll know the day of the month and day of the week. Mineral Crystal Glass

According to specifications, the watch can handle pressure up to 100 feet or 30 meters. Note that this is static pressure, which is not the same as 30 meters beneath the surface in practice. With that said, the watch can handle water splashes. Some owners have tried swimming with it and have reported good results, However, we wouldn’t recommend swimming with it. The water resistance isn’t the most impressive, but let’s not forget this is neither a dive watch nor an expensive watch. The SNK805 is water resistant for a maximum 30 meters (99 feet). That doesn’t mean you should consider scuba diving with the unit. The mechanism within the watch is 4R36 automatic movement which is built in house and the calibre is comprised of 24 Jewels and a 41-hour power reserve. How water resistant is the watch? The unit can basically withstand some splashes or being immersed briefly in H2O. That said, you should consider not swimming or showering while wearing the SNK805.

The case is made of stainless steel which is durable, sporty, and will last for a long time to come. The Seiko 5 Sport series was first released in 1963, its creation aimed at providing stylish yet affordable automatic watches to the younger generation of the 60s. 50 years later, the Seiko 5 Sport has been reborn, each model showcasing the key traits of the original models as well as new, updated features.

Fun Fact: Hamilton released the world’s first Commercial electronic digital wristwatch 40+ years ago in 1972. Analog displays are old-school, and that’s a good thing for many consumers. The biggest plus of this timepiece is arguably the aesthetics. They include a military-inspired look with green dial, day/date display, and glow-in-the-dark hands.

Seiko SNK805 Watch Review Summary

This is generally a very simple procedure. We can do this for you, or you can get the watch adjusted locally. Option 1. Specify your wrist measurement and we will adjust it before being sent Seiko

It’s an alternative to manually winding the watch. Which option is better? If you wear the watch regularly then winding is practical. Seiko's timepiece teams a hard-wearing stainless steel case with a green wristband created from textile. Seiko SNK805K2 The SNZG is like a more restrained version of the SRPG, with white trimmings and more scripting, including the additional sports branding, jewel count, and water resistance text. Despite the added writing, it is probably more readable overall, though I’m not sure what to think about the slightly darker tone used on the outer ring. It gives the watch added depth and presence, but it is jarring at first.

Drilled lugs are a welcome addition to the new SRPG, allowing you to change straps or bracelets more conveniently, where more focus and accuracy would otherwise be mandatory. However, when you won’t be wearing the watch for 1-2 days, for example, the auto watch winder is a plus. It prevents the rigmarole of winding up the watch constantly. How precise is this watch? Due to their affordability the Seiko 5 series have been extremely popular, offering a great blend of design and quality. This SNK805 has a traditionally built mechanical movement which winds itself as it’s worn, thus never needing batteries. The dial is in a similar khaki green to the nylon strap and uses silver luminous hands with a red sweeping second hand to tell the time. The glass used is ‘hardlex crystal’ which is Seiko’s own take on a type of mineral glass that gives you a good level of protection from scratches. The automatic movement means you’ll never require a battery change. The watch winds itself through the day as you wear it. Once again, this model offers tons of value/features for the price. If you want a basic everyday watch that will still work in light rain or splashes from sinks or sprinklers, then the SNK805 is a wise choice.

Based on the Seiko watch’s price point this unit is loaded with features. The top feature is the aesthetics like glow-in-the-dark accents, green dial, and green nylon strap. You can power the watch with arm movements or the auto watch winder. The case of the Seiko 5 SNK805 has a rugged look thanks to its matte finish. Would the case be polished, it would lose a lot of its tool-like character and appear more like a classy everyday watch. A good choice by Seiko. The sides, on the other hand, are polished, which creates a nice contrast, and gives the watch a greater perception of quality and being well-finished. Lastly, the Seiko SNK805 comes on a matching green double-layered nylon strap. The green color of the strap, and the choice of nylon, make this durable strap a great complement to the military and tool-like personality of the watch. The strap isn’t the best in the game and can be slightly hard, but if you would want, it is easy to change the strap to allow for better comfort but also to give it a new look. Conclusion The Seiko 5 is one of the most popular automatic watches in this price range. But once you look at the specifications and what it offers for a price of less than a hundred dollars, you can see why. Printed on the dial are markings that have been broken into two rings. The outer ring of the dial indicates minutes and the inner dial indicates hours.

More from this collection

The dial of the watch is military green which goes great together with the military field watch vibe of the watch. All of that said the SNK809 is still an automatic watch worth considering. Besides being an affordable entry-level automatic watch, it has some big plusses. They include the steel case, water-resistance, and battery-free operation. This Seiko watch is a good option in terms of durability, accuracy, and aesthetics. The steel case makes the unit more durable vs. cheaper materials. The SNK805 keeps good time. You can wear it 8+ hours/day or manually turn the crown to manually wind up the main spring. The eye-catching design and colors also add value. The circles and printed numbers on the dial are reminiscent of pilot watches. This, again, goes very well together with the military style. Seiko 5 SNK805 case The Seiko SNK805 is another great watch from the 5 series. Overall a simple yet effective design, I rather like the khaki green that’s been used and most regular readers will be well aware I love automatic watches. A very affordable option and a well earned 9/10 from me.
