Description

The first two segments of this episode were featured in the VHS Nursery Rhymes and the audio tape Fun with the Teletubbies. In The Grand Old Duke of York, the scene of the Teletubbies running off to their destination is cut out. Erhu Fiddle (US Pledge Drive Version, US Sprout Version, and US Rerun Version) (Bottom Left Window Sketch in the US Pledge Drive Version and the US Sprout Version, Bottom Right Window Sketch in the US Rerun Version) The Teletubbies join in a game when a voice trumpet sings the Grand Old Duke of York. The Magic Windmill spins and the Teletubbies watch as Po gets a musical transmission featuring King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys singing The Grand Old Duke of York. Then the Teletubbies head to the path to do The Stamping and Stepping Dance, as they march down the path.

You've heard, of course, all about the grand old Duke of York. He had ten thousand men. He marched them up to the top of the hill, and then he marched them down again... Sing and play along to over forty popular nursery rhymes, with the words and actions on screen. In Emily and the Trap, My Mum's Keyboard, Carnival, Wake Up!, and Numbers - 4 (V2), the Teletubbies are silent when the house appears.

After the scene of the windmill spinning in the Magical Event sequence, the scenes of the Teletubbies going to the Magical Event place and the Baby Sun laughing have been cut out. Running (US Original PBS Version, US Pledge Drive Version, and US Rerun Version) (Bottom Right Window Sketch) In Dog Kennel, and the PBS Rerun Version of Flower Festival, the Magic Windmill stops spinning, but then it goes to The Tip Toe Dance. The Video Collection Children's Promo from 1993 with clips of "Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends", "Rosie & Jim", "Tots TV" and "The Wind in the Willows". [announced by Sophie Aldred] In Emily and the Trap (UK Version), My Mum's Keyboard, Carnival (UK Version), Wake Up!, Numbers - 4 (2nd UK Version), PBS Versions of Photo Faces (Pledge Drive Version), Dirty Dog (Original PBS Version and Pledge Drive Version), Music with Debbie 2 (Rerun Version), Handy Hands (Pledge Drive Version), The Gingerbread Boy (Rerun Version), Rollerblading (Rerun Version), Colors - Orange (Sprout Version), Towers (Sprout Version), Crazy Golf (Pledge Drive Version), and Erhu Fiddle (Pledge Drive Version), the Teletubbies are silent when the Pink House appears.Well they performed on a delightful, hour long video entitled “The Grand Old Duke Of York”. A compilation of Nursery Rhymes and children’s songs. The performances are assured, well sung and beautifully choreographed. The sets are bright and colourful and the accompaniments are varied, professionally produced and fun. For nearly a quarter of a century each of my grandchildren and now my great-grandchildren have been spell-bound by these young singers and performers. With no exaggeration at all the video has been played hundreds quite possibly thousands of times and has never failed to entrance each child that came to stay. My latest great-grandchild Ruby is two, each week she comes to stay for a day; during the day “The Grand Old Duke Of York” will get played at least 3 times, often more.

In Our Pig Winnie, The Grand Old Duke of York, and Numbers 2 (V1), the scene of the Teletubbies running off to their destination is cut out. This reflects the story of all three dukes trying to overcome something but ending up right where they started, but particularly Richard, Duke of York in the Battle of Wakefield and Wars of the Roses. How many men did the Grand Old Duke of York have?

They were neither up nor down. [2] Origins [ edit ] Richard Tarlton in the 1580s with his pipe and tabor In the US dub Version of The Magic House, the puppet sings with the same voice on each window, unlike in the Original UK Version where he sings with a different voice on each of the windows. [6] Richard, Duke of York (1411–1460), who was defeated at the Battle of Wakefield on 30 December 1460. Richard's army, some 8,000 strong, was awaiting reinforcements at Sandal Castle in Wakefield (the castle was built on top of a Norman motte). He was surrounded by Lancastrian forces some three times that number, but chose to sally forth to fight. Richard died in a pitched battle at Wakefield Green, together with between one third and one half of his army. [5]
