I loved Everly too, such a sweet kid, and I loved the three of them and their interactions, and how much Cozy helps Everly become who she wants to be. But then you can throw away all the effort because instead of finding a common ground and trying to learn each other again she is forcing the guy to have some meaningless one night stands… trying very hard (and pathetically at times) to seduce him. She even makes his family involved in helping her. Dr. Belle Ryan once believed that Tanner was the perfect sort of bearded bad boy that she needed to relieve some of her stress after her intense job working as a surgical fellow. However the icy rejection from London’s most slutty footballer puts the pair at one another’s throats.

Oh Cozy, he’s my absolute favorite character since he’s real. She has perfectly normal everyday problems that make her the best kind of heroine. She has baggage, trauma and personality in abundance and is all the better for it. It’s really nice to be able to read a book and have the MC normal. Not only is she a plus-size powerhouse, but she also has hobbies and reads just like us! I’ve read this twice already and kept finding more and more things I love about both of them. Gareth Harris is Manchester United’s reclusive star defender. He has control over all aspects of his life. But a lifetime of supporting his siblings and filling in for an emotionally absent father has taken its toll.Booker is emotionally insecure and stunted. She declared her feelings and he’s consumed with losing her friendship, this isn’t merely an act of being I’m not the biggest fan of having children characters in steamy books, but this was quite well done and I really liked the kid. Vi Harris comes with baggage most men can’t handle. A famous ex footballer for a father and four professional footballing brothers. Brothers she helped raise after their mother died.

Best friends for most of their lives, everything changes when Poppy abruptly leaves London for University. Cozy Barlow is in the middle of her self-proclaimed “gap year” and is doing her best to let go of her past. Through it all, she doesn’t see his flaws. She doesn’t see him as broken. She sees him as the man he’s been fighting his whole life to be. Cozy and Everly’s bond was PRECIOUS. Cozy and Everly were so similar and were exactly what the other needed at the time. All of the Cozy/Everly/Max moments were adorable because they were so perfect together. Max is an amazing dad and I loved his co-parenting relationship with his ex. This book truly did the single parent thing right and I loved it. The chemistry these two have, my goodness, the sides were sizzling. And we need to discuss the problem? And always have fun learning new technical terms… Zaddy! That changed my view of so many men now. I could go on forever, but instead I’ll just say buy, read and LOVE!

Of course, Max’s daughter Everly must also be mentioned. Wise beyond her years, she definitely has a future in the matchmaking business. This story is your traditional friends to lovers trope. The basic story-line follows that of two friends who long to be more. What will keep readers engaged, though, is the slips between the characters as they attempt to navigate the carefully constructed line of friends and lovers. The conflict is one that I didn't see coming but makes perfect sense with the character development of Booker and Poppy, and the falling action with the grand gesture is perfect. I was a puddle of goo in the hands of this hero. The resolution of the story brings the characters full circle, and I am so at peace with the way Amy Daws leaves these characters.
