sorry but I seem to be spamming this subreddits a lot, but I am going through a bit renovation, hence the questions... If you prefer a detail or multi-sander, this electric sander is one of the best out there. Whether you are a professional or a beginner, it works well for everyone. It is lightweight and compact. This makes it very easy to use. Doing this first makes sure that the paint stays on the wall rather than coming away when you pull the skirting.

It comes with 12 sanding discs with multiple grits. Additionally, it includes nine sanding pads and three polishing pads for free. Moreover, you get a warranty of 3 years with this random orbital sander. Pros Pulling nails out of skirting is a tiresome, lengthy, long job, so only do it if you’re sure your skirting boards are attached with nails. While sanding your skirting boards, you are bound to rise plenty of dust. It will not only make it messy but also be quite hazardous. Moreover, it distracts you from your task. Inhalation Warning: Sanding produces fine dust that can be harmful if inhaled. Always wear a dust mask and ensure the workspace is well-ventilated.

If the wires aren't visible from the outside, bare this in mind when attempting to pry the skirting away from the wall. When you have a line of drilled holes, you can use a chisel to cut along the line and create a break in the board. Personally, when levering the board of the wall, I like to use two tools. This puts less strain on the board and makes the job easier. For example, you may use a crowbar and a chisel in combination or even two crowbars. Move it in a circular pattern to evenly distribute heat. Ensure you don’t hold it in one spot for too long to prevent scorching the wood or adjacent wall.

Buyer’s Guide

We'll make this job easy for you by providing information on tools required and keeping your walls safe from harm. Now that you've read our guide, you should be confident enough to go ahead and remove the skirting! With that being said, now we'll answer some common questions in relation to the process. Why Would You Need To Remove Skirting Boards? You'll likely find that the existing skirting will have been nailed, screwed or glued (or a combination of these methods may have been used) to the wall. Before you begin, put it in the forefront of your mind that you don’t want to cause any damage to the plasterboard or existing flooring (if you’re planning on keeping them, at least). Alternative Tool: If you don’t have a heat gun, a hair dryer might work, though it might not be as efficient due to its lower heat output.
