Description

Our in-house dentists believe 3 features should be present in a good electric toothbrush. The Pro 2 2000 has them all. The timer and pacer help you to brush for the right amount of time

Despite the Pro 1000 not being a brush for the UK market, we have received requests for a comparison between these two models hence this article. One advantage buying Oral-B is that you can use all tooth brush head models on every tooth brush. Also the added 3rd year warranty is a great bonus ! Last but not least the Li-Ion batteries in an entry level device are hard to beat but remember that Philips Sonicare already had them for years. The battery indicator light is not good, especially when compared to the more expensive Oral-B models. It does not give adequate warning before the battery runs out.The Oral-B Pro 3000 has the most features of the three electric toothbrushes and therefore wins this round. It comes with the handy sensitive cleaning mode and an extra brush head. The Oral-B Pro 2500 and 2000 are identical other than the colour. 2) Mechanism of action: Oral-B Pro 2000 vs 3000 vs 2500 The Smart 4 4000 has 3 cleaning modes (Daily Clean, Sensitive & Whitening) compared to the 2 modes (Daily Clean & Sensitive) of the Pro 2 2000.

The Pro 2 2000 comes with 3 different brush heads (CrossAction, 3D White or Sensi UltraThin) compared to the 4 brush heads (CrossAction, 3D White, Charcoal & Sensi UltraThin) of the Pro 3 3000. With the 2000 it is the rubber grip in blue or pink that contrasts against the white plastic body of the brush. Although there is a white gripped variant too. The Daily Clean Mode features on most Oral-B toothbrushes and is perhaps the most effective cleaning motion available outside of the dentist’s office. In fact, Oral-B is consistently the No. 1 electric toothbrush recommended by dentists to their patients. The gum care mode is an extra mode that is designed to gently massage the gums and stimulate blood flow to the gum tissue. This might seem a bit unnecessary, but any dentist or doctor will tell you just how important healthy gums are to your oral and general health. Apart from that, it is really quite soothing and it’s a mode that I do actually use regularly. To activate the program you just have to press the button twice.

The Brush Head

is still a fair difference in price when you consider the actual selling price, your talking of a premium of around 35% for the Pro 3 over the Pro 2. The Oral-B Pro 2 2500W comes with the whitening brush head, which I am not keen on. The whitening brush head has a rubber cup in the middle of it, which looks similar to a hygienist polishing bur. I think this is too aggressive to use on a daily basis. If you do end up getting the Oral-B Pro 2 2500W, I would recommend purchasing some CrossAction brush heads separately. The handle is water resistant, so a rinse under the tap is perfectly fine. All the important electronics, including the battery, are sealed inside. The code on the base is 3756, but that is no help as it's the same code for Pro 1000-3000 (and maybe more). But the info booklet does say 'Aus/UK', so I'll assume its the UK model. To look at the 2 toothbrushes there is a great deal of similarity, the biggest noticeable difference is that the Smart 4 4000 has a white rubber grip on the front of the handle, compared to the dark blue of the Pro 2.

Because of my bad experience with the Oral-B battery I initially wanted to buy a Philips Sonicare DiamondClean but the ones with all bells and whistles (Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart HX9924/03) was more than twice as expensive as the Genius 9000. So at the end a bought a couple of Oral-B PRO 2 2000N ’s and one Oral-B Genius 9000N to see how the very best and best value differ in daily use. Yes, it is a great brush where it really matters: removing plaque! Oral-B has a very long history of research and development in the toothbrush market and the Oral-B Pro 2000 is another great example of a well-designed and high performing product. What Price should you pay? Now what dentists including myself, always say is you can clean properly using any toothbrush, manual or electric, high or low cleaning power.

3D White Brush Head

Sound connectivity – When you switch on your toothbrush, the microphone on your smart device will detect the sound of the toothbrush operating and will automatically turn on the 2- minute timer. Specifications and cleaning ability are the same on the variants. What differs is the exact model name, the brush head supplied, the colour of the rubber grip on the handle and the box contents. The Pro 2 2000 offers 9,900 oscillations and 45,000 pulsations compared to the 8,800 and 20,000 of the Pro 1000.

When the battery indicator light eventually flashes red, the Oral-B Pro 2 2500 is completely out of battery. This means moving to a manual brush to complete your toothbrushing and waiting 5-6 hours for it to charge. ChargerIt is not overly noisy. I would say it is about average in noise level for an electric toothbrush. Should I go for the Oral-B Pro 2 2500 or Oral-B Pro 2 2000 electric toothbrush? To help keep you interested as you brush your teeth the App also flashes up the latest news and weather to keep you informed at the same time. The Oral-B Pro 3000 have these two cleaning modes and an additional one which is sensitive. Although cleaning modes are in the most part irrelevant, the sensitive mode works by reducing the power of the electric toothbrush from 8,800 oscillations and 40,000 pulsations down to 6,500 oscillations and 30,000 pulsations. This can be particularly useful for people with sensitive teeth especially when used in conjunction with the sensitive brush head. The Oral-B Pro 3000 also comes with another extra brush head which is a nice addition. The reason for getting an electric toothbrush is that they have the ability to clean teeth more efficiently and with less effort than a manual toothbrush, and that is exactly what the Pro 2000 excels at. It has the same rate of oscillations and pulsations as the most expensive models, putting it on a par with the high-end toothbrushes in the range.
