Description

One of the reasons people like it is because it wears off and can give your guitar a classic, well-used look. But, this means that keeping it on a stand can wear off the finish in places you don’t want.

You should also consider what type of guitar you’re looking to keep on your stand. A stand designed for an electric may not be able to accommodate an acoustic or classical guitar due to the smaller yokes. How Much Space Do You Have?Other than stowing your guitar safely away in a case, there are two main types of guitar storage solutions. A guitar stand sits on the floor, upon which your guitar will safely sit, with some support to ensure it doesn’t topple over. Stands take up more room than a guitar hanger, but they make switching instruments nice and easy. A guitar hanger on the other hand will be mounted onto your wall – so may not suit DIY-phobes – which means it takes up less room, however, it won’t be quite as instantly accessible as a guitar stand. So, you can never be 100% sure, because so many things affect the finish of your guitar. Maybe you have held your guitar in direct sunlight too long, and that’s why it reacts with some guitar stands. Or maybe you used wrong kind of polish, and this is why the color of your axe changes when it touches some stands. However, they don’t guarantee their stands due to the fact that there are many different formulations of nitrocellulose lacquer, so there may be an outlier that is indeed damaged by the SFF. Conclusion Ultimately, a handful of wall hangers (if you’ve got multiple guitars) plus a stand or two, for when the guitar is in frequent use – the studio for example – is an ideal combination that should cater for all environments. We know, buying one of each sounds like it could get expensive, but the good news is that you can get some really great guitar stands and hangers for really good prices. If you do want to have both a stand and a hanger, but finances won’t allow that right now, a stand is a great place to start and then look to invest in hangers down the line. How we choose the best guitar stands It can hold almost 200 pounds of instruments…yet it still manages to be foldable and lightweight! It’s so stable I’d say it’s actually hard to tip over, no matter how many instruments you load it down with. Quality

But, in the end, you shouldn’t leave your treasured nitrocellulose guitar is best kept in the case to safeguard against all manner of damage that might befall it. Many famous musicians use Hercules Stands equipment amongst them the following DAVE MATTHEWS BAND, MEGADETH , ZAC BROWN BAND , TOKYO SKA PARADISE ORCHESTRA , BB KING'S BLUES CLUBS , SEAN HOLT , DOMINIK KRAEMER , MUNDSTUHL , SERAPHIM and MARK WOOD . This Donner did require some assembly, but fortunately we didn’t need any tools. It folded and unfolded quite easily, and even after multiple movements, nothing came loose, which was definitely a good sign. While the price might make it a little impractical for homebound hobbyists, if you’ve got several vintage six-stringers you wanna show off at once, it’s a great deal that won’t let you down.

It’s okay to put it on a nitro-safe stand for a short time period, like between songs or when you take a break during practice, but any length of days or months runs the risk of fudging the finish. Because they’re usually screwed into the stud in your home, guitar wall mounts and hangers are often a good choice if you’re particularly concerned about stability, but installing a wall hanger will mean that you need to damage your walls. Durability and Build QualityHERCULES takes great pride in providing you with the highest quality and most trusted stands in the world. HERCULES had conducted numerous trials on our SFF foam and is pleased to conclude that the foam does NOT react with the large majority of popular instrument finishes on the market, including Nitrocellulose. These trials included subjecting an assortment of high end and budget friendly instruments on our variety of stands to punishing heat, bitter cold and common room temperatures for periods of up to six months without disruption. This USA-made stand was fitted with a String Swing cradle, a guitar wall hanger that we’ve previously featured in our best wall hangers list. We did find that some simple assembly was required, and it did need a Phillips head screwdriver, but regardless, it went together quite easily. It even included a free bottle of lemon oil to keep the wood nourished. This simple stand did have low ground clearance, so you may want to place a rubber or foam mat below it or place it on a carpet to avoid any scraping – particularly with larger-bodied guitars. For the money, it offered a great array of features, especially in comparison to other options in this price range. More importantly, you need to be sure you’re using a stand that is safe for nitro finishes. These stands are made with special foam or rubber that is designed not to react with the nitro’s solvents. The arms on which the guitar body rests were covered in neoprene padding to prevent damage to the finish, and the feet had non-slip rubber covers for stability. One thing we would highlight is that this type of neoprene padding has been known to react badly with nitro finishes, so bear that in mind if you’re planning to use it for a Gibson or any other guitar with a nitro lacquer.
