Description

Beautiful citrus opening, not too sharp but well rounded. Very impressed by this one. The citrus smells very natural, not synthetic at all. Anyway, as with the 1980s version, this one is pleasant and distinctive, but more for the mature gentleman than the young.

If I had to compare it it would be more like Chanel pour Monsieur but the scent is much better. Addictive.British violinist Charlie Siem and Italian photographer (son of Italian Vogue editor in chief Franca Sozzani) Francesco Carrozzini are chosen as the models for the new fragrances. The fragrances are available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. This is a mature, retro, bold, masculine, sexy fragrance. It's also idiosyncratic; I don't know of any other cologne quite like it. Since its output, it smell as a very natural lemon with herbal spices, in a very mediterranean style, in its medium phase grows up the smell of flowers with a prominent nutmeg and cloves. This fragrance opens with zesty basil notes which gives it its classic freshness. Then it gradually transforms into a heavy patchouli and sandlewood base which lasts 4 to 5 hours in a fall or winter season. I didn't have a chance to smell Eau Pour Homme from '84 unfortunately. But this is (IMO) currently the best fragrance from Armani's "mainstream" lineup.

I smellt it before, but it was warmer weather and I could smell patchouli after the citrus green opening. I think this fragrance it will be a must have always in my closet, because in my opinion this is the scent for a man.I read from the Now Smell This bloggers that there's hardly any difference between the old and the new. So, I was surprised that to my nose, there really is a great big difference. The old one is heavy laden with citrus while the new one leans more towards the spice. I mean, it's not bad...just different. VERY different yet familiar, it should have been given a flanker name. I would put this at over 55, for sure. Guys 30-40ish can still wear something interesting and fun (hell, so can guys 55+, for that matter). This may be slightly interesting, but it's not even remotely fun. Well after a few sprays I get the beautiful citrus burst interwoven with neroli and some light spice and moss. It lasts on my skin for about four hours with moderate projection and still hangs around for a few hours more but more close to my skin. I'm quite happy as the previous formulation only lasted a hour on my skin. The last time I tried this was in 2012 and it was the previous formulation and I was very disappointed as I love the original 1984 version. I got a blast of lemon that seemed to fade after 30 min and was gone on my skin within the hour. Interestingly, I bought this instead of Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino after spraying a wrist with each and comparing. I was very surprised at how unexpectedly similar the two are at initial spray and during development, especially the aldehyde note...but I actually found the dry down of this fragrance to be more to my liking.

Armani Eau Pour Homme gets my approval. I've never smelled the original juice so I'm reviewing this on its own.

Eau Pour Homme is not for young guys. If you've worn Axe in the past five years - no. You haven't earned this one yet. This one is for educated, forward-moving, experienced, interesting, dashing men - at least in their mid-thirties. It opens strong but generic, citrus and cool spices, and it dries down to something I consider way too flowery, kind of like hair grease. Smells like green lemon. not too strong, but does last a while. a perfect scent for office wear I think, and most definitely I think for the summer or spring, or a warm climate. Having so many strong scents, I wanted one like this. Who do I imagine wearing this? Mid 20s+, position of trust, power, persuasion (doctors, bankers, white-collar jobs, entrepreneurs, teachers...). I can vision someone from the generation x, in wish of power, sex, abundance, money wearing this. If you are in the position of power, where you call the shots and people answer to you, then you have found your olfactory match. However, I do not recommend it to youngsters, generation Y, clubbers and women.
