From wireless-regdb-2013.02.13 folder Copy any .pem files you see to the crda pubkeys directory inside crda-1.1.3 folder Sometimes retailers have a tendency to promote a specific attribute of a product as if it is the only thing that matters. In fact, while higher output is a good thing, it is not the only thing that determines your range and signal strength. After I had the device filter setup, I detached the device from my workstation and logged into Kali. As you can see, there are no wireless devices connected to my VM yet. Once I created a new blank filter, I just added the appropriate Vendor ID and Product ID and saved it.

get Alfa awus036nha to work with Kali Linux? How to get Alfa awus036nha to work with Kali Linux?

iwconfig wlan(x) mode monitor - At this time as well, if your adapter isn't in monitor mode when you typed just "iwconfig" by itself at the command prompt; this will change it to monitor mode. This needs to be done to utilize the adapter with all the kali apps. For this question there is no exact answer. Wireless range is an imperfect science. The range you get with any adapter will vary markedly depending on the strength and quality of the wireless access point being used, as well as obstacles and interference in the area. Keep in mind that interference can often be invisible. So now when i run ifconfig I get that wlan0 is up (Alfa) but eth0 is down (Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260). highlighting them and coping from wireless-regdb-2013.02.13 folder directly works nothing special here With everything properly connected and configured, it was time to set up monitor mode. To do this, I started airmon-ng on the wlan0 device. root@kali: ~# airmon-ng start wlan0 Alfa wifi adapters became famous because of its quality and the power of the device. If you are working as a pentester and you need to do a audit to a wifi network, this device is a must have.

The signal strengths I see with the HA are typically not as strong as what I see with the H. However, this can be misleading since the driver that the manufacturer writes controls this value, and from working on the 8187l driver, I know that it tends to be a bit optimistic. So this in itself is not really too important. They both saw about the same networks. There was some variation at times, with the H tending to see a few more. Again, this fact alone is not that important however, but consumers tend to like devices that show lots of networks, even if they can’t connect to them J. iwconfig wlan(x) txpower 30 - This is the command that sets txpower and 30 is the highest you'll get I thought that maybe it didn't have the right drivers so i tried to apt-get install firmware-atheros but it said that it was already installed. After letting this run for a while, I had a fair amount of SSIDs and beacons detected! Unfortunately, nothing in my immediate vicinity was running WEP. Finally, I ran Wash to find out if there were any weak WPS devices that I could use to test out my new card. root@kali: ~# wash -i wlan0mon I’m new to penetration testing and have recently been taking online course, however I installed Kali Linux on windows 10 recently which all went fine. The issue i have is when I try using the the alpha AWUS036NHA wireless adapter . I works fine on the host machine however it isn’t passing through to kali linux. A lot of the times the adapter just cuts off when I start Kali and when I boot up Kali and then connect the adapter it dosent switch on as it should. I’ve tried your steps above however with no success. Also I’ve noticed that the usb icon at the bottom right of the screen is showing no activity i.e red or green blinking dots and it states ‘No USB Devices Attached’. I’ve tried the method above several times on different ports also with no success. I’ve ran the following commands on the Kali terminal

Alfa AWUS036NHA Atheros AR9271 Wireless B/G/N USB Adapter Alfa AWUS036NHA Atheros AR9271 Wireless B/G/N USB Adapter

wifichanges/wireless-regdb-2013.02.13#make what we want to do here is after the folder is cd just type make If you always travels outstation or overseas and stay in Hotel with Wifi Hotspot, This is your best choice because from my own experience, your Laptop build in Wifi is too weak and always fail to get the connectionI’m running into the same issue that James posted on November 15th. When I disconnect and reconnect the device manually then go to Devices>USB>Atheros, just as you suggested to James, I still receive the “failed to attach the USB device” warning. Now however the problem is that when I plug in the Alfa device my network connection from my other wifi ceases to work (Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260) (the connection bridged from my host). It disconnects in the host aswell. If I connect to a wifi (with 7260) in the host with kali and alfa running the alfa stops working in Kali... I want to have them both running. Note since this is my only wifi adapter i went ahead and deleted my original crda folder you dont have to do this step if you already have a crda folder but it helped when i deleted mines.
