Peter Robinson: Bibi, you're telling me that you wrote, you wrote this, this is not the product of a ghost writer. You wrote this book. Peter Robinson: But, sorry. You said you were a 19th-century man? Yeah, my father was a quintessential 19th-century intellectual, one of these great scholars of old, and that's the tradition that I was born. So he would, when I was young, when I was a little boy, I found my homework, my notebooks from history class in the fifth grade. And I see these fantastically learned essays about the Maccabees, about Hellenism and so on, and he clearly dictated it to me. I wrote it in my child's handwriting. So you know, I got A's history always. I got A's generally, but I got A's in history. So then he said to me, "You write, I'll edit." And then he said to me, "You edit," and he taught me how to write and how to edit. And at a very young age, I do both. I’ve been nearly 3 weeks in IDF Reserve Duty, and I’ve never been more hopeful for Israel’s future. The history that Bibi discusses about himself and his family and their intersection with the State of Israel is fascinating. His grandfather and father were intimately involved with forming the Jewish state. But sadly, their names are rarely noted in this light. But, like all autobiographies, it can get a bit tedious because of the details. However, it is better to have them and be able to reference them than to not have them and have an incomplete picture.

Bibi: My Story by Benjamin Netanyahu: Autographed and Bibi: My Story by Benjamin Netanyahu: Autographed and

These are just a handful of folks that I serve with that dropped everything the moment they heard their country was in need.In contrast to Netanyahu’s cultivation of Ben-Gvir and Smotrich, Jabotinsky strongly opposed Abba Ahimeir and the maximalists in his Revisionist movement. Jabotinsky never wavered in his opposition to authoritarianism and illiberal thought. He died in the US in 1940, attempting to create a Jewish army to fight the Nazis. Bibi Netanyahu: Three things. Stop Iran, have a historic end to the Arab-Israeli conflict, which I believe could be achieved if we are able to make peace with the most important Arab country, not to belittle the others who are tremendously important, but Saudi Arabia I think is a quantum leap compared to everything, unbelievable that we've done so now. It includes, among other topics, Mr. Netanyahu’s upbringing and education in both Israel and the United States, his own military service with a branch of Israel’s special forces, the Sayeret Maktal, his entry into business and then Israel’s diplomatic service in Washington during the Reagan administration, and, of course, his various terms as Prime Minister and leader of the opposition. While any autobiographer can be expected to put the facts about his or her life in the best possible light, what emerges—independent of what Mr. Netanyahu writes about himself—is a picture of a highly competent man of many, varied talents and someone who has much to teach about leadership. Netanyahu says Ron Dermer, then Israeli ambassador to the US, was “flabbergasted. This was not, ‘Houston, we have a problem.’ This was, ‘Houston, we are the problem!” But most, if not all the manuscript had been written by then and in parts, it seems to have been therapeutic for Netanyahu, as if he was both establishing his legacy and place of history, but also convincing himself, not just the readers, that he remains Israel’s essential leader.

Collect your thoughts in full honesty, in complete integrity with yourself, with what you truly believe. Bibi: My Story is a surprisingly sentimental and ideologically thoughtful autobiography from a politician known for his cold, hard realism. Unlike other political autobiographies, which mostly serve to obscure their subjects, this one provides us with the tools to understand this signature figure in modern Jewish history . . . a far better book than we had any reason to think it would be.”Netanyahu writes: “I could see that the video registered with Trump, at least momentarily. ‘Wow,’ he said. ‘Is that the same guy I just met in Washington? He seemed like such a sweet, peaceful guy.’ But the most interesting part of the book are his discussions about policy and diplomacy - in his quest to protect the future of Israel. He provided detailed policy considerations for why, for example, he spoke to the US Congress against the JCPOA that was being negotiated by Obama with Iran. And he also provided lots of details about his negotiations with Obama with regard to the Palestinian conflict. As always the consummate diplomat, he was very respectful of the differences he shared with Obama on policy.
