I was gripped. Transfixed. Loved it. Even got up early on Sunday morning to finish it. Highly recommended." Someday, no one will have to tell you when you've done something well, because you'll hear the applause inside." These are the powerful last words of NOW YOU SEE HER by Jacquelyn Mitchard. They are the words that capture the main sentiment of this important story about believing in yourself, and I hope Mitchard herself takes them to heart. Unfortunately, the conclusion was quite predictable. To be honest, I was hoping for a more different answer. Still, it wasn't bad at all.

A 2.5 stars for the actually interesting parts of the novel, but the drag and inconsiderate main character removed the possibility of any other stars.

I admire her for taking risks with this novel. It isn't easy to write a story with a completely unreliable and (I would argue) unlikable narrator. However, to make this story work, it is essential that we see the world through Hope Shay's eyes. Sometimes it's difficult for people to believe that the girl who has everything would have doubts, insecurities, and would have such a hard time dealing with reality that she would create her own little world to live in. But as Hope's world begins to unravel, she takes us on a heartbreakingly honest journey that ends with the realization that all the praise and critical acclaim in the world doesn't matter if you can hear that "applause" yourself.

I hate saying that because I want to like most books, especially when I already like the author. I've read many books by her.Overall: An excellent read that had me totally entertained and engrossed from start to finish! Would highly recommend! Meanwhile, Harriet is living a double nightmare. Her child is gone, and her marriage and state of mind is more fragile than ever. And then the unthinkable…. Charlotte looks away for a minute (and yes, she is briefly on Facebook) but she’s also grappling with three kids of her own – and Alice disappears. We’re in both Charlotte and Harriet’s heads in the days and weeks after Alice’s disappearance so it’s impossible not to feel sympathy for Charlotte – once a popular mum, suddenly a pariah within the school community; and Harriet dealing with her husband’s fury… intermingled with concern for his wife.
