This Chicago-brewed pale ale has all the dank hoppiness of a more assertive IPA, but at a lighter, smoother clip, making it a more crushable source of hop flavor. He is best known for being the lead singer of Iron Maiden as well as being an avid drinker of real ale, so much so that his collaboration with Robinsons Brewery has produced one of the most iconic and well-known beers in the UK – Trooper.

To celebrate the publication of the 51st edition of The Good Beer Guide on 28 September 2023 many CAMRA branches are holding special events in pubs up and down the country.Lagunitas takes the American wheat ale one step further with the Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale, a beer that brings the wheat style into bolder territory with a hoppy twist. Among the new pubs added are the Little Gem in Aylesford, which reopened in July last year after being closed for a decade. They're bright with a dry finish and most importantly, a bouquet of herbal, citrusy, bitter hop notes. As I have no doubt said many times before, the Good Beer Guide is not perfect – no guide like it can be – and almost certainly there will be a pub or two within the pages of the new edition which will close before the book reaches its Christmas sales. The 2023 edition of CAMRA's Good Beer Guide is the 50th in the series of this essential reference to the best 4,500 or so of the UK's pubs. No list of best beers would be complete without the Anchor Steam Beer, considered the first American craft beer by experts.The last few years have been an incredibly difficult time for the industry, and we need more support than ever before to keep our nation’s pubs open and thriving. Nowadays the pubs listed in the guide, and many others, tend to offer a wide range of quality cask beers in numerous styles and from microbreweries near and far.
