She was the first woman to lead a major political party in the UK, and the first of only three women to have held any of the four great offices of state. Read another review that talked about how she spends most of the book trying to justify why she was right, and I see their point. She gives riveting accounts of the great and critical moments of her premiership - the three election victories, the Falklands War, the Miners' Strike, the Brighton Bomb, the Westland Affair, her battles abroad with foreign federalists and at home with faint-hearted or misguided ministers. Maybe this cuddliness is just an act; but it does make you wonder what the political process does to have made them seem quite so inhuman when in the heat of government.

The restoration brought with it a surprise—the color of 10 Downing Street’s trademark black facade was thanks to two centuries of London pollution. And before anyone else condemns her to hell it is highly likely she'll actually make it to heaven, having confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour, and be greeted with 'well done my good and faithful servant'. The book ends with an account of her last days which is as gripping as anything in thriller fiction.
