The new TRV is supplied with several mounting adapters for different radiator valves, but our radiators have older valves incompatible with the supplied fixing kit. I bought a different, more basic, zigbee TRV from Tuya at the same time that doesn’t have any built in scheduling, this one has been running for at least a few months on the same set of batteries and works great. This brings the temperature curve close to what my room temperature sensor is reporting and paves the way for setpoint driven operation from my DIY Smart Heating system.

Usually, it seems Z2M has better device support (for the non standard stuff), but in my experience, ZHA isn’t far behind. It’s usually easiest to set programmable radiator valves to one value that provides even heat throughout your home. Ex: EF00/026C=0001/0021,2 converts any EFOO/026C attribute received to 0001/0021 (BatteryPercentage) and multiplies by 2 to convert to ZCL standard. The lightweight nature of plugins permits to load only the plugins required by the devices used, and does not require a sowftare update for new devices. Calibration tells the TRV to offset the actual reading by a specific number to compensate for the proximity to the radiator. If you are using ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT via Ser2Net, Tasmota is only passing bytes between the controller (HA or Z2M) and the Zigbee MCU.

Am I correct in assuming I do not need the gateway if I have a Zigbee controller like the SkyConnect? Put Z2T in pairing mode (command ZbPermitJoin 1 or via WebUI) and keep the button of the sensor pressed for 5 seconds.

The image shows the active touch area on the new unit compared to the green house icon, which the documentation showed was the button.
